Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' at Guidel Plages.
Overall, it's a pretty flat and quiet outlook for the next couple of weeks. We've got a little burst of something at the very start, but honestly, most of the period is going to be a write-off for any decent waves. The water temp is about 65°, which feels a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – a nice little bonus if you're just having a paddle.
We kick things off with the best of the bunch on Friday morning, July 3rd. It's not pumping, but with a clean 3ft swell rolling in from the west, and a glassy cross-offshore breeze from the ESE at just 3 mph, it's about the closest we get to decent. The swell has a moderate energy (194) and a solid 10-second period, so there's a bit of push behind it. It's not gonna blow your mind, but for a quiet session with a log, it's the only real option. The afternoon is a total no-go with a shift to a fresh 19 mph onshore wind.
After that, it's a long, dry spell. Saturday morning the 4th has a little bit of 3ft surf with clean offshore winds, but it's still tiny and weak. Sunday the 5th, Monday the 6th, Tuesday the 7th... all flat and poor. You'll be waiting nearly a week until Thursday afternoon, July 9th, where we get a brief moment of pure glass. The wind goes totally calm, but again, we're only looking at 2ft of weak swell – more of a sunbathing opportunity than a surf.
The second week doesn't get much better. A lot of days with clean offshore winds but absolutely no swell to speak of. The one thing that catches my eye is Tuesday morning, July 14th. The swell picks up to 2ft and the period stretches out to 11 seconds, giving it a bit more grunt with a combined energy of (105). The wind is a clean cross-offshore. It's small, but it's the most promising wave shape we see all week, even if it's still just knee-high.
The very end of the outlook, on Saturday morning, July 18th, gets a bit more size. We're looking at 6ft of swell from the WSW. That's getting into fun territory for a beach-and-reef setup, but the wind is onshore and cross-onshore, chopping it up. The combined energy jumps way up (750), which tells you there's plenty of water moving, but the quality is gonna be poor. For a bigger board on the right tide, you might get something, but it's going to be a battle against the wind.
Honestly, for this stretch, if you're desperate, aim for Friday morning, July 3rd, or Tuesday morning, July 14th. Everything else is a wash.
Rusty.
