Table - best surf conditions forecast for Guidel Plages over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ at Guidel Plages over the next couple of weeks.

Honestly, the first nine days are a total write-off. I’m talkin’ zip, zero, nothing worth wettin’ a wetsuit for. From the 11th right through to the 19th, it’s just a sad run of tiny, weak swells and cross-onshore junk. Every session is marked "poor surf conditions," and I’m not gonna argue with that. The combined swell energy barely cracks triple digits – it’s mostly sittin’ under 60 (weak energy) – so you’d be paddlin’ for nothing but whitewash. There’s a little window on Saturday the 13th morning with clean cross-off wind from the ENE, but the swell is only 1 ft from the SW with a period of 6 seconds? That’s not surf, that’s a lake. Save your petrol.

Alright, we finally get a pulse of life on the morning of Sunday, 20th July. Now we’re talkin’. The sky is clear, the wind goes glassy – dead calm – and we get a 3 ft swell from the WNW with a 7-second period. The combined energy bumps up to 116 (moderate energy). It’s still small, but that glassy surface will make it look way better than it is. The water temp has been hangin’ around 67°, which is *much warmer than normal* for this time of year – over 4 degrees above average. The swell direction is WNW which is a solid match for the optimum SW exposure here. A little bit of juice and no wind? That’s your best chance for a soul session.

After that Sunday morning window, it goes back to being rubbish again. The wind picks up, the swell drops, and we’re back to "poor surf conditions" through the 21st and 22nd. The morning of the 22nd has a whisper of a swell at 1 ft but it’s cross-onshore and messy.

Then we see a spike in size on Thursday, 24th July, but the wind is howlin’ WSW at 18-22 mph and it’s cross-onshore. That 6 ft swell from the WNW is packing serious energy (over 750 for the combined energy – strong wave energy). But with that wind? It’s gonna be a washing machine. For a beach and reef setup like this, that’s a windy, blown-out mess. Honestly, that combo looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

The same story on Friday, 25th July morning – another 6 ft swell, energy still high at 547, but the wind is WSW at 12 mph cross-onshore, so it’s gonna be lumpy and choppy. Not the clean lines you want. By the end of the weekend, the 26th and 27th see the swell taper off a bit with rain and onshore wind lingerin’.

Bottom line: If you’re desperate for a paddle, the standout moment is Sunday morning, 20th July at Guidel Plages. Glassy wind, a little waist-high bump, and water that’s way warmer than usual. It’s not gonna be epic, but for clean waves in this stretch of the forecast, that’s as good as it gets. Anything later is either too windy or too small. The rest is a miss.

Stay patient,
Rusty
