The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer.
Honestly, for the next 16 days, it’s a pretty grim outlook for Le Fort Bloque. The forecast is a long stretch of tiny, weak, and often messy conditions. You’ll be looking at a solid run of nothing until around the 13th of August, so almost a week and a half of flatness or real junk. The good news is that there are a couple of windows that might give you a little something to work with.
The first real chance of a wave worth talking about comes on the morning of Thursday, 13th August. We’ll see a small bump in swell, around 2 ft coming from the WSW. The combined energy of all swells directed here is a modest 73 (moderate wave energy). It’s not going to fire, but with a light N wind blowing cross-offshore, the conditions will be clean. The tricky part is this break is inconsistent, and it’s a beginner spot, so don’t expect a world-class session. The water temp is about average for the time of year.
The next morning, Friday, 14th August, is a similar story. You’ve got 2 ft of WSW swell with a combined energy of 103 (moderate wave energy). The wind is light NNW, again cross-offshore, keeping it clean. It’s barely surfable, but it’s the best we’ve got.
After that, the outlook gets a bit more interesting but also more uncertain. On Saturday, 15th August, the swell jumps up to 5 ft from the W with a short, bumpy period of 8 seconds. The combined energy spikes to 438 (strong wave energy). That’s a proper punch of energy, but the wind is light W cross-on, leaving it a bit lumpy. The real issue is that this is a beach break, and with a short-period swell that size, it’s going to be a washing machine. This one might be more interesting for the kite surfers than paddle surfers.
The final mention is on Wednesday, 19th August. The swell is back up to 3 ft from the WNW with a longer 9-second period, giving a combined energy of 227 (moderate wave energy). The wind is a gentle NW cross-shore, so it’s a touch better. It’s still a marginal call, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
So, the standout? Honestly, there’s no real standout. The morning of 13th August is the best of a bad bunch, purely because it’s the first chance of clean, rideable waves. The 15th has the most size, but the wind and short period wreck it. Keep your expectations low, and maybe the forecast gods will smile on us.
