Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kerhillio over the next 16 days.
Alright, let me give it to you straight, folks. Rusty here, looking at the next couple of weeks for us.
Honestly, it’s a tough start. We’re looking at a pretty flat spell to kick things off. From now through the next week, there’s just nothing doing at Kerhillio. The swell is tiny, the wind is messy, and you’d be better off cleaning the wax off your board. It’s a real dry patch. We’re talking about a solid 7 to 8 days of poor surf conditions, with hardly a ripple worth mentioning. Don’t get too down though; it’s the way it goes sometimes, and it won’t stay flat forever.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on Wednesday the 22nd of July. We start seeing a little pulse of energy, but it’s still small. By Thursday the 23rd, we’ve got some waist-high swell rolling in from the west. The combined energy is moderate, but the wind is a bit messy in the arvo. The pick of this first wave of swell is definitely Friday the 24th. The morning session looks the best. We’ve got a clean 6 ft swell from the west, with a light ESE breeze keeping the surface glassy. It’s a bit on the bigger side for beginners, maybe pushy for the less experienced. The energy is strong, but the period is short at 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit walled-up and fat at times. Still, it's the first sign of life.
Now, hold onto your board shorts, because Saturday the 25th of July is the real standout. This is the one we’ve been waiting for. Saturday morning is looking *very* good. We’re expecting a solid 6 ft swell from the west, but here’s the kicker: it’s got a very long period of 12 seconds. That means real groundswell, proper energy, and long, clean lines. The combined energy is massive. And to top it off, we’ve got a super light ESE breeze, which is borderline glassy. It’s going to be absolutely clean. This is a morning for the experienced crew, as the swell size and power will be a handful for beginners. Get on it early because the wind is set to turn onshore in the afternoon.
Sunday the 26th will see the swell drop back, but it’s still a good option for a lazy session if the morning rain clears. The wind is onshore though, so it won’t be as clean.
So, to wrap it up: don’t bother waxing up until late in the week. The best bets are Friday the 24th for a cleaner, if a bit fat, day. But the absolute winner, the one to circle on your calendar, is Saturday the 25th of July. Get out there for a dawny.
Rusty.
