Table - best surf conditions forecast for El Brusco over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I'll get the bad news out of the way first. For the next two weeks, we're looking at a real flat spell. There's nothing on offer that's worth paddling out for. The first hint of any kind of swell doesn't arrive until Saturday the 18th of July, and even then, it's not looking great. That's a full week of nothing from today.
The only break we've got to talk about is El Brusco. It's an advanced, fairly consistent spot that's exposed to the NW. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual there.
Let's run through it. From now until the 18th, the swell is tiny, mostly under 3ft, with poor wind conditions. The energy is weak, barely registering. The wind is often onshore or cross-onshore, so it's going to be a mess.
The first real bump in energy comes Saturday the 18th of July. The swell nudges up to 4ft from the NW with a period of 7 seconds, and the combined energy hits 129 (moderate). But the wind is cross-shore or cross-onshore, so it's going to be choppy. It's still poor surf.
Sunday the 19th of July sees the biggest swell of the whole period, 5ft from the NW, but the period is still short at 8 seconds. The energy jumps to 278 (moderate), but the wind is a moderate cross-shore, so it's a bumpy, sloppy mess. Not the kind of day you want to be out there.
The pattern continues through the rest of the week. Monday the 20th has 3ft, Tuesday the 21st has 4ft, but the wind is never truly clean. The swell direction shifts to NNW, which is fine for the spot, but the wind keeps it poor.
The one that nearly catches your eye is Saturday the 25th of July. You've got a 2ft swell from the NW with a period of 11 seconds. That's a longer period swell, which could mean some nice shape if the conditions were right. The energy is moderate at 154. But the wind is a gentle cross-shore, which is the best we've seen, but it's still not glassy. It's a "poor surf conditions" label, plain and simple.
So, what's the call? There are no standouts. None. The whole 16-day window is a write-off. If you're absolutely desperate to get wet, maybe the morning of the 25th of July offers the least worst option, but don't expect much.
For a break like El Brusco, this kind of blank run is pretty normal. The swell just isn't cooperating. The forecasts can change, but as it stands, I'd leave the board in the car and find something else to do.
Rusty, signing off.
