Table - best surf conditions forecast for El Brusco over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be real with you – the next couple of weeks at El Brusco are looking pretty grim. We’ve got a solid 16-day window here, but for the first week and a half, it’s a total bust. The surf forecast is basically a flat spell with poor conditions. From Friday the 10th all the way through to the 20th of July, every single session is flagged as "poor surf conditions." The swell is tiny, mostly under 3ft, and the wind is never truly offshore. It’s a long stretch of nothing, so don’t bother paddling out until we get closer to the end of the month.
The water temperature is sitting at 73°F, which is a massive 5°F warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s very unusual – it’s like summer has kicked into overdrive. You won’t need a wetsuit, just a rash guard.
Now, if you’re patient and hungry for a wave, your best bet comes on Saturday the 25th of July. That’s the only standout in the whole outlook. The morning sees a cross-on wind from the ENE at 12 mph, pushing a 4ft swell from the NW with a period of 9 seconds. The combined wave energy jumps to 269 (moderate energy), which is the most juice we’ll see all fortnight. The afternoon cleans up a touch with lighter cross-on breeze from the NE at 9 mph, and the swell holds at 4ft from the NW, though the period eases to 10 seconds. The energy is even stronger at 327 (moderate energy). It’s not perfect, but it is the only window where the swell is worth the drive. The wind is cross-on, so it won’t be glassy, but for a break that’s fairly exposed, you’ll get some rideable walls. Expect crowds are likely – El Brusco is an advanced spot, but it’s only fairly consistent, so when it shows up, people will be there.
For the rest of that final week, you’ve got a few mornings with a light cross-on breeze and small swell, like Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd, but the size is just too small – 1ft to 3ft – to really get excited. The best wave quality is still a long way off, and forecasts can change, but right now, mark your calendar for the 25th.
Rusty out.
