Table - best surf conditions forecast for Zurriola hondartza over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a flat spell. We’re looking at a good week or more of pretty lifeless conditions here at Zurriola hondartza. Through Wednesday the 9th, the swell is tiny, the wind is on it, and it’s just not worth a paddle. The water’s a toasty 77°, and that’s a massive 9° warmer than usual for this time of year, so it’s a freak warm spell, but don't let that fool you into thinking there’s any wave energy (combined energy down at 38).
We start seeing a faint pulse on Friday morning the 10th. It’s not much, maybe 3 ft from the NW with a period of 9 seconds, and the wind goes glassy. The combined energy is weak (130), but for the first time in days, it’s clean enough to get wet and ride a few gutless ones. Saturday morning the 11th is much the same story with 2 ft from the NW and glassy conditions.
The real standout is a long way off. Mark your calendars for Wednesday morning the 22nd of July. That’s when a proper pulse of groundswell hits – 8 ft from the WNW at 9 seconds. That’s big, expert-only territory, and the combined energy is a huge 1093, so there’s serious power behind it. The wind is glassy, so it’ll be clean, but that size on a beach break like this will be closing out and dumping. Not for the faint of heart.
Before that, Tuesday afternoon the 21st looks messy. There’s 6 ft of swell (energy 454), but the wind is on it, making for poor conditions. It might be more interesting for the kite surfers than the paddle crew.
After that big Wednesday, it drops right back down to knee-high nothing by Thursday the 23rd. So really, you’ve got two clean but tiny windows around the 10th and 11th, and one big, expert-only day on the 22nd. Everything else is a hard pass.
Rusty, signing off.
