Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s happening at Karramarro. This is a point break for advanced surfers only, and it’s an inconsistent spot, so don’t expect magic every day.
The first week is pretty grim. Mornings are glassy but there’s barely any swell. The water’s sitting at 75°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year—pretty unusual.
Saturday morning on the 4th of July is your only real look in the early days. A 3ft NW swell with a 10-second period, glassy wind from the north, and moderate energy at 184. It’s surfable but nothing special. Everything after that is small and weak until the following weekend.
On Saturday the 11th of July, the swell jumps to 5ft from the WNW, but the period drops to a short 6 seconds. Morning has cross-offshore wind and clean conditions, with moderate energy at 238. It’s not bad, but the short period holds it back.
Sunday the 12th of July morning brings the biggest swell of the whole forecast—6ft from the WNW, 10-second period, and strong energy at 565. But the wind is cross-onshore and messy, ruining the quality. That size is getting into expert-only territory, but the conditions don’t match.
Monday the 13th keeps similar size at 6ft from the NW, 9-second period, and strong energy at 540, but again the wind is cross or cross-onshore. It’s a fight.
Tuesday the 14th of July morning offers a last decent window: 5ft from the WNW, 8-second period, glassy conditions, and moderate energy at 258. Surfable, but still ordinary.
After that, the swell fades into tiny, weak surf. The second week is barely worth mentioning.
Your best bet is Saturday the 11th of July morning. That 5ft WNW swell with clean, cross-off winds is the pick of a poor lot. The Sunday and Monday have more size, but the wind just won’t cooperate.
For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is a long quiet stretch. It won’t stay flat forever—forecasts change.
Rusty.
