Table - best surf conditions forecast for Karramarro over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break it down.
First up, we're looking at Karramarro, a point break that only works for advanced surfers and is known to be inconsistent. The water temp is sitting at 76°F, which is a whopping 8°F warmer than normal for this time of year – that's very unusual, so you'll be surfing in some seriously warm bathwater.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: the next couple of weeks are a tough watch. From Friday the 10th of July all the way through to Wednesday the 23rd of July, the wave energy is weak to moderate at best, and every single session is rated as poor surf conditions. There’s no standout surf in that whole stretch. You'll see a bit of swell here and there, like Monday the 13th with a 4ft NW windswell (short 7-second period), but the wind is cross-onshore and the quality is just not there. A few glassy moments pop up, like Saturday afternoon the 11th with a 2ft NW swell and glassy conditions, but the swell is tiny and the energy is weak. It’s basically a flat spell with a few ankle-biters.
Finally, things start to shift on Thursday the 23rd of July. The afternoon brings a 4ft NW swell with a solid 10-second period and moderate energy. The wind is light and cross-shore, so it’s clean but a bit bumpy. This is the first real sign of life.
Now, the best on offer – and I mean the *only* one worth circling on your calendar – is Friday the 24th of July. The morning session at Karramarro sees a 4ft NW swell, 10-second period, and light cross-onshore wind. The combined energy bumps up noticeably. It's still only rated as marginal, but compared to everything else, this is the closest we get to a proper wave. The afternoon gets a bigger bump to 5ft from the NW with an 11-second period and strong energy, but the wind switches to a gentle cross-onshore and it gets choppy, so stick to the morning.
After that, Saturday the 25th has a 4ft NW swell in the morning with cross-shore wind, and the afternoon cleans up with a light cross-offshore breeze and a 3ft NW swell. It's surfable but nothing to write home about.
So, the bottom line: this is a long, flat run with a very brief window of hope on the morning of Friday the 24th of July. Don't expect much, and for the beginners, the swell never gets over 5ft anyway, so that's not an issue. For the experts here, it’s a patience game.
Stay tuned, things can change.
Rusty.
