Table - best surf conditions forecast for Karramarro over the next 16 days.
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming for Karramarro. It’s a slow start, but there’s a couple of windows that might get your blood pumping.
For the most part, the first week and a half is pretty flat. We’ve got a few small bumps, but the energy is low, and conditions are often just average. The real standout is a late-breaking window on Monday, July 20th, and into Tuesday, July 21st, where things finally line up. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 341 (on Monday afternoon) which is a solid step up from the weak stuff we’ve been seeing. The swell direction is NW, which is the sweet spot for this break, and it’s riding a 8-second period – a decent mix of push and shape. The wind is glassy, so the surface will be clean as a whistle. That Monday afternoon is the best on offer, with solid 5ft of NW swell and glassy conditions. The Tuesday morning also looks good with 4ft and glassy wind, but it’s a little smaller.
Then there’s a long gap with nothing worth getting excited about until the final weekend. Saturday, July 25th, has a bit of energy (128 combined) but it’s still small and the wind is cross-on, so it’s not a stand-out. The real long-range promise is Monday, July 27th, and Tuesday, July 28th. The combined energy on Monday morning hits 382, a strong moderate read, with 5ft of NW swell and glassy wind. The afternoon sees 6ft and cross-on wind, so it gets a bit lumpy, but the swell is building. Tuesday, July 28th, morning has 6ft of NW swell with a long 11-second period (groundswell) and light cross-shore wind. This is a long period, so it’ll be better for this point break, but it might be a bit too straight for the beach. The energy is a very strong 861, so it’s got plenty of power. Keep in mind this is a long-range call, so it’s promising but not a lock. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, nothing weird there.
Karramarro is an advanced, inconsistent point break, so it’s not a place for beginners. The Monday afternoon on the 20th is the one to circle, with clean conditions and a solid push. The swell might be a little too big for beginners on the 27th (5ft) and definitely too big for them on the 28th (6ft). That’s expert territory. Also, with crowds being “often”, you can expect some company on the days that look good.
So, to sum it up: the first week is a write-off. Monday, July 20th, is the best early call. The long-range window on the 27th and 28th has serious potential but keep your expectations tempered until we get closer. Stay stoked.
