Table - best surf conditions forecast for Torre Bank over the next 16 days.
Alright surfers, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. I’ve been looking at the charts for Torre Bank, and I’ve got to be honest with you—it’s a pretty bleak picture for the next couple of weeks.
For the first week, from Friday the 10th right through to the end of the week and into the next, we’re looking at a flat spell. The combined energy of all swells here is basically zero (0) to start, and it never climbs above a weak 36. The waves are tiny, mostly under 3 ft, and the period is short, around 3 to 6 seconds—just not enough to get excited about. The wind is sometimes glassy or clean, like on the morning of Friday the 10th or Sunday the 19th, but with no swell to work with, it doesn’t matter. The water temp is sitting at about 78°, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year, but that’s about the only thing going for it.
This is a sandbar break that’s fairly consistent, but right now it’s not breaking. The swell direction is all over the place—E, SE, SW—none of it matching up with the optimum SSE direction for this spot. The crowds are only sometimes an issue here, but with no surf, there’s no one around.
The whole first week and a half is a write-off. We go from Friday the 10th to Saturday the 18th with nothing but "poor surf conditions" across every session. You’ll see a tiny increase on the 24th of July—Friday morning—with a 1 ft swell from the east and a 6-second period, but the combined energy is still only 36, and the wind goes cross-onshore in the afternoon, chopping it up. Not worth paddling out for.
The second week doesn’t get much better. The period from the 20th to the 25th is still dominated by small, weak swells from the SE and E, with periods under 6 seconds. The best you’ll see is the morning of Saturday the 25th, with a 1.0 ft east swell and glassy conditions, but it’s a long way off and the energy is tiny (12). It’s just not enough to ride.
Look, I’m not saying it’s hopeless, but this is one of those stretches where the ocean is just taking a nap. The forecast is pretty reliable for the near term, and it’s saying no. For the long range, it’s a bit more uncertain, but it’s not looking promising. There are no standout days here, no hidden gems. The best advice I can give is to check back in a few days—the forecasts can change, and this spot is fairly consistent, so it won’t stay poor forever.
For now, keep your board in the car and your wetsuit dry.
Rusty.
