The Lowdown

Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s on the table.

Honestly, for the next two weeks, Marseille - Le Prado is serving up a tough menu. We’re looking at a real dry spell. There’s barely a ripple to get excited about for a long, long stretch. The first few days are a total write-off with tiny, weak wind-affected slop, and the water? Well, at 80°, that's a whopping nearly 9° warmer than usual, which feels like bathwater. It’s a long gap of nothing before we see any kind of pulse.

The only real glimmer in this whole outlook is the morning of Tuesday the 28th of July. It’s not a classic, but by far the best we've got. A new NW swell comes in at a modest 6ft with a period of 6 seconds – that’s a short-period, weak wind swell, nothing special, but given the rest of the lineup, it’s the standout. The combined wave energy is 240, which is moderate. The wind will be light and cross-shore, which is decent enough to keep the surface from getting too messy. The water will still be an anomaly. Don’t get your hopes up for perfection, but this is the one window where a beginner could at least bob around without giving up.

Everything else is tiny, blown out, or just flat. Wednesday the 5th of August has a little 3ft SW push, but it’s onshore and weak, so still not worth the drive. Basically, expect a whole lot of flat, clean conditions with no swell to ride.

This is one of those periods where you either take the board for a paddle and enjoy the warm water, or you hang the wetsuit up for a bit. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.

Rusty, signing off.
