The Lowdown
Hey, it’s Rusty again, breaking down the next 16 days at Palm Beach. Honestly, it’s a slow go. From now all the way through September 25th, there’s basically nothing—big gaps of flat water. You’re looking at at least a week and a half of no surf to speak of. Hang the board up for now.
The only real hope arrives on the morning of September 27th. A small E swell sneaks in around 5ft, but the period is short at 6 seconds—so it’s soft. The combined energy is weak too, sitting at 119. What saves it is a light offshore wind from the N at 3 mph, so it’ll look clean on the surface. That Sunday morning is your best bet if you’re desperate for a paddle. Come afternoon, the wind flips onshore and it falls apart. Palm Beach is a beach and reef setup, good for beginners, but it’s inconsistent here, so these long flat spells are pretty normal for the area. Water temperature is about average for September—nothing unusual.
After that, it’s back to the same story: tiny waves or flat conditions right through October 1st. Not much to get excited about, but forecasts change, and this spot can wake up again.
