Table - best surf conditions forecast for Centreville Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Centreville Beach. Gotta be straight with you: this is a tough one. The next 16 days are looking like a pretty lean run for any decent waves. The water is sitting at 52°F, which is a whopping 4°F colder than usual for this time of year – that’s much colder than normal, so you’ll need a thick suit and booties.
We’re in a real dry spell here. From Sunday the 12th right through to the morning of Saturday the 18th, there’s nothing good to report. It’s a solid six-day stretch of poor surf conditions. The wind is a constant cross-onshore breeze, mostly from the NNW and N at 12 to 19 mph, creating a choppy, lumpy mess. The swell energy is weak to moderate, but the period is short and the wind just ruins any chance of a clean wave. Don’t bother paddling out.
Now, there’s a little flicker of hope on Saturday the 18th. We finally see a shift in the wind. The morning has a moderate cross-shore breeze at 12 mph from the SW, with a solid 7ft NW swell. The combined energy is strong. The real highlight is Saturday afternoon: the wind drops right off to a slight air from the SW at only 3 mph, going cross-shore. The swell drops to 6ft, but the energy is still strong, and the period is a workable 9 seconds. It won’t be perfect, but with light wind and clean conditions, this is the best chance you’ll get. It’s a big wave for a beach break, over 5ft, so it’s not for beginners, and the crowds can be around sometimes. If you’re an advanced surfer, that’s your window.
After that, from Sunday the 19th onward, it’s back to the same story. The wind goes offshore for a day or two, but the swell drops to knee-high tiny waves (2ft to 3ft). The energy is weak, and the conditions are marginal. The rest of the week into July 27th is a write-off: persistent cross-onshore winds, fresh breezes up to 19 mph, and barely enough swell to get you wet. The energy is weak. Honestly, it’s a long stretch of nothing.
So, to sum it up: the only thing worth paddling for is the late afternoon of Saturday, July 18th. The rest of the 16-day window is a tough one for the paddle crew. With the strong winds and messy conditions, it might actually look more interesting for kite surfing than a traditional paddle session. Hang in there, and check back in a few days – you never know when the forecasts might turn.
Rusty.
