Table - best surf conditions forecast for Toes Over over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s break it down for you in feet and miles per hour.
We’re looking at a pretty grim stretch for the most part. The swell is tiny, the period is long, and the wind is mostly on it or cross-on. It’s going to be a long wait for anything that gets the heart pumping. The good news is the water is running much warmer than usual for this time of year, about 68° at the start, which is over two degrees above normal. That’s a nice bonus if you’re just getting in the water, but it doesn’t help the waves.
We’re looking at Toes Over, a beach and jetty spot that’s fairly consistent but needs a solid SW swell. The first real chance of anything worth mentioning comes on the 19th of July. It’s still small, with a 2-foot swell from the SW, but the period is a solid 17 seconds, a long period groundswell that usually brings good shape. The combined energy is moderate (398). The catch is the wind is a light cross-onshore from the SSW in the morning, which is borderline. It’s a marginal call, and it’s a long way out, so keep the expectations in check.
The best window looks like the very end of the run. On the 26th of July, we’ve got a 3-foot swell from the SW coming in with a very long 18-second period. The combined energy jumps to 515, which is solid. The wind is light and onshore, but if it stays glassy, this could be the standout. This is a one-star day, meaning it’s still not a classic, but it’s the closest we get to something with a bit of push. For a spot that’s exposed to a SW swell, that’s your best bet.
There’s a stretch of nothing for days before that. The 21st of July has a little more size (just under 3 feet), but the wind picks up to 15 mph from the WSW in the afternoon, which will chop it up. Not worth it.
Honestly, most of the 16 days are a write-off. The breaks are all showing poor surf conditions. If you’re desperate, the 26th is the one to circle. For the rest, it’s a waiting game. The water is warm, but the waves are not.
