Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next couple of weeks at Toes Over. Gotta be real with you – it’s a pretty lean stretch for the most part. We’ve got a lot of days where the wind’s gonna mess things up or the swell’s too weak to get excited about.
The whole outlook kicks off Monday morning, July 6th, with a small 2ft SSW groundswell rolling in at a very long 16 seconds. That long period would usually be tasty, but the wind is a light cross-onshore, putting a bit of texture on it. The combined energy is only weak at 322. It’s a marginal call at best.
That pattern pretty much sets the tone. Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th see the swell nudge up just a touch to 3ft, but the wind switches onshore, making conditions poor. Same story Thursday and Friday – the wind stays partly onshore or cross-on, and the swell energy continues to drop into the 200s. It’s frustrating because there’s a long-period groundswell in there, but that onshore flow just ruins it.
We hit a real dry spell from around Tuesday the 14th through to at least Friday the 17th of July. Swell drops to a tiny 1ft to 1ft, with energy readings down in the low 100s – basically nothing worth paddling out for.
Now, if you’re looking for a glimmer of hope, hold out for the last weekend. Saturday, July 18th, we might see a slight pulse, with the swell climbing back to 2ft from the SW with a 17-second period, giving us moderate energy at 245. But again, the wind looks like it’ll be a moderate cross-onshore, making it choppy.
The real standout – and I mean the only real standout in this whole 16-day window – is Monday morning, July 20th. We get a 3ft SSE swell with a moderate 13-second period, and the wind goes light and cross-shore. That means clean conditions with just a small crossing wind ripple. The energy jumps up to moderate at 323. It’s not huge, but for this stretch, it’s the best chance at a fun, clean wave. Later that afternoon, the swell picks up to 3ft from the south with energy hitting 520, but it’s onshore then, so the morning is your moment. Remember, this is a beach/jetty break, so with that moderate period, it should offer some shape.
Stay patient, crew. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so that won’t help. It’s a quiet run, but forecasts can change. Keep an eye on it.
Rusty.
