Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, let me run down what's happening on the local front.
The water's sitting at about 67°F, which feels a touch warmer than average for the time of year – a nice little bonus if you're not wearing a thick suit.
Honestly, the start of this stretch is a drag. The surf is tiny and the wind is mostly blowing straight onshore from the SSW or SW. Through Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th, the waves are only 1 to 2 feet, and the onshore breeze is making a mess. The combined swell energy is weak – 278 on Sunday morning, then dropping to 248 in the afternoon.
Tuesday the 7th shows a little more size in the morning – about 3 feet from the SSW with a pretty long 18-second period, and the energy jumps to a moderate 480. But the wind is still onshore, so it’s only being called marginal. That pattern stays locked in through Wednesday and Thursday: small waves, onshore or cross-onshore wind, and the wave comment keeps saying "poor" or "marginal." We're stuck in a flat spell.
Friday the 10th through to Tuesday the 14th doesn't change much. The swell holds between 1 and 2 feet, the period drops from 15 seconds down to 12 seconds, and the energy falls off – from 254 on Friday morning to a very weak 101 on Tuesday morning. The wind stays stubbornly onshore or cross-onshore. No standouts in that run.
There’s a gap of several days where nothing improves – it’s just flat, choppy, and not worth the drive.
Then, on Saturday the 18th of July, we get a little pulse. The morning shows 2 feet from the SW with a long 17-second period, and light cross-onshore breeze. The energy climbs to a moderate 334. Still not clean, but it's a hint of life. Sunday the 19th is similar, with 2 feet from the south at 13 seconds, energy at 266, and again the wind is light cross-onshore.
The best shot in this whole forecast lands on Monday the 20th of July. That morning shows the biggest swell of the run – 3 feet from the SSW at a 14-second period, and the combined energy hits 424, which is solidly moderate. The wind is light and cross-onshore, which isn't glassy, but it's the best looking window we've got. That's the one to circle on the calendar, even if the conditions are only rated as marginal. It's the standout, but it’s nothing to write home about.
With how small and inconsistent this 16-day period looks, and almost nothing I'd call good, it's one of those quiet runs where Mother Nature just isn't cooperating. But forecasts can shift, so don't give up hope entirely.
That's the word from Toes Over.
