Alright, this is Rusty.
Look, I’ve been staring at the charts and I’m not gonna kid you, the next couple of weeks are a real struggle. We’ve got a long, drawn-out period of small, onshore wind-affected junk before anything even thinks about cleaning up. It's a flat spell, and it’s going to feel that way for a while.
Our only real window, and it’s the best we’ve got, is Toes Over. This spot is a beach and jetty setup, fairly consistent and exposed to the SW. The water temp is sitting at 68°F right now, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t be shivering through the doldrums. But for the first week, forget it. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore from the WSW and SSW, with swell heights barely scraping 3 ft. The energy is weak to moderate—we’re talking numbers like 207 to 446—which just isn't enough to push any shape into the break. It’s mostly poor surf with marginal conditions. You'd be better off staying home.
Now, there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. Around July 8th into the 9th, we see the swell energy pick up a touch, but the wind remains a problem. The real standout, if you’re desperate, is Sunday morning, July 5th. The wind is a light cross-on from the SSW, not ideal, but the swell period stretches to 18 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell. For a beach setup like this, a long period can make it break a bit too straight, but the energy (278) is the highest we’ll see for a morning in that first week. The waves will be small, maybe 2 ft, but with that period, there’ll be longer gaps and a bit more push.
Later on, Friday morning, July 17th looks like it might be our best bet. We get a clean onshore wind from the SSW, a 19-second period, and the combined energy is only 208, which is weak, but the swell direction is from the SW, matching what this break wants. The height is still tiny at 1 ft. It’s a marginal call at best. This is a long-range forecast, so don't pin your hopes on it just yet.
Overall, it’s a grim outlook for the next 16 days. The waves are too small, the wind is mostly wrong, and the quality is poor. Even the few spots that line up are marginal. If you’re a kite surfer, this setup with the onshore winds and small, messy surf might actually be more interesting. For us paddle surfers? It's a waiting game.
Rusty.
