Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pobbles Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's going on with your local waves over the next couple of weeks. Straight up, it's a pretty flat and uninspiring outlook for Pobbles Beach. The energy just isn't there for a proper session for the vast majority of this period.
Looking at the big picture, we've got a long stretch ahead with barely a ripple. The first proper pulse of swell doesn't show up until late in the forecast, and even then, conditions look rough. The water temp is a wild story though; at 68° with a huge 5° anomaly, that's far warmer than normal for this time of year, which is a nice touch for a paddle but won't help the waves.
For the first two weeks, from Wednesday morning, July 8th right through until the morning of Wednesday, July 22nd, it's a total write-off. Swell heights are mostly below 2ft, with very weak combined swell energy (mostly values between 5 and 83). Winds are all over the place – cross, cross-on, and cross-off – but with such tiny surf, it doesn't matter. The wave comment for every single one of those records is "poor surf conditions." There's nothing to get excited about. This is a consistent, blank run for the area, and frankly, it's more normal for Pobbles Beach to have these quiet spells. It won't stay poor forever, but right now, it's a desert.
Now, the only real shift comes on Thursday, July 23rd. The morning shows a jump in swell to about 5ft from the SW, with a short period of 6 seconds, and combined energy bumping up to 189. The afternoon sees it climb further to about 7ft from the SW (189 energy in the morning, 437 in the afternoon). However, the wind is a killer. It's a strong, fresh cross-onshore breeze at 18 mph in the morning, ramping up to a nasty 25 mph and heavy rain by the afternoon. That's going to churn the ocean into a lumpy, messy, cross-onshore chop. The wave comment stays "poor surf conditions." The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, honestly. The size is there for experienced surfers (it's over 5ft, even pushing 8ft in the arvo) but the quality is going to be terrible.
So, to sum it up: there are no standout days, no secret windows. The first two weeks are flat, and the only swell pulse at the end is ruined by wind. Keep the board in the shed for a while, folks.
Rusty.
