Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s going on in the water over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I gotta call it straight – this is a tough one. We’re looking at a 16-day window with no real surf on offer. The first record we have is for Friday, August 7th, and from there right through to Saturday, August 22nd, there’s just nothing doing. The forecast shows zero swell energy across the entire period, with the combined energy sitting at 0. That’s a flat spell, plain and simple.
For Ontario Beach, it’s a real bummer. We’re seeing a lot of days with cross-shore and cross-onshore winds, and even when the wind goes light or glassy, there’s simply no wave to ride. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, but without a bump in the swell, that doesn’t help us one bit. The break is inconsistent, and this dry run is a bit more normal for the area when the lake goes quiet.
If you’re desperate for a paddle, keep an eye on the forecast. It tends not to stay poor forever, and a change could come. But as it stands, leave your board in the car and go do something else. There’s nothing worth getting wet for.
Rusty.
