Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you about the surf outlook for Spanish House. I've looked at the numbers, and what I'm about to tell you is the honest truth.
We've got a bit of a quiet stretch ahead for the next 16 days. The swell energy is pretty weak, so we're not looking at any proper waves. The forecast just doesn't have any standout days where everything lines up.
Right now, and for the next few days, the surf is basically non-existent. We're looking at tiny swell around 1.0ft to 1ft, with periods around 8 to 9 seconds. The combined energy is pitiful, sitting at just 16 to 36 (weak wave energy). It's just too small and the conditions are poor. The wind is mostly cross or onshore, with a few cleaner windows, but there's just no wave to ride.
Come Wednesday 8th July, there's a tiny blip. The morning shows a 2ft swell from ESE, period 8 seconds, with a light cross-offshore wind (5 km/h). The combined energy is still only 43 (weak wave energy), and while the conditions will be clean, the waves are described as "surfable but very ordinary." For a beginner spot like this, that's probably the best you'll get in this whole period, but it's hardly something to get excited about. It's a real knee-high day.
The next worthwhile moment doesn't arrive until Saturday 11th July. The morning is looking like the pick of the entire forecast. We've got a 2ft ESE swell, 8-second period, and the wind is glassy from the W at only 5 km/h. The combined energy is 56 (weak wave energy). That's the best window of calm we'll see for weeks. Get in the water then if you can.
After that, it's back to a long, boring run. From the 12th through to the 18th of July, the swell drops back to 1.0ft to 1ft, and the wind and conditions mix between clean and lumpy, but the energy is consistently below 30. There's just no push.
Finally, on Sunday 19th July, we see a little life in the morning, with a 2ft NE swell (7-second period) and a gentle offshore wind from the W at 15 km/h. The combined energy bumps up to 52 (weak wave energy). It's still tiny, and the short period means the waves will be pretty crumbly and weak, but it's at least clean. For a surf-starved end to the week, it's something.
Honestly, the whole 16-day window is flat. There are no good options. You'd need a log or a foamboard for a knee-high cruise, and only on those few cleaner mornings. The rest of the time it's too messy or too small. It's one of those periods where you either go for a paddle on the glassy days or you wait for the next forecast. It won't stay like this forever.
Stay stoked, but patient.
Rusty
