Table - best surf conditions forecast for Spanish House over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab a coffee, because I’ve looked over the charts for Spanish House, and I gotta be straight with you—it’s a tough run ahead. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat and mushy for this exposed sandbar spot. The swell is tiny, mostly hanging around 1ft to 2ft, and it’s coming from the ESE or E, which isn't the optimum NNE direction this place craves. The combined wave energy is weak, barely cracking 60 (59) at its best, and often sitting in the 20s. That’s just not enough to get the heart pumping.
Water temp is sitting at a warm 84°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so at least the water feels like summer.
Here’s the deal: starting Wednesday morning, July 8th, we’ve got tiny 1ft ESE swell with light cross-shore winds. Early on the 8th it’s glassy and clean-ish, but the surf is just too small to do much with. That afternoon, the wind picks up from the SE at 19 mph, making it lumpy and messy. This pattern pretty much holds through the first week.
Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th are similar stories: tiny swell, cross to cross-on winds, and poor quality. Saturday the 11th brings a risk of thunderstorms and still just ankle-slappers. Sunday the 12th morning actually sees some clean conditions with a light cross-offshore breeze from the SW, but the swell is still only 1ft.
Now, there are a few mornings that might catch your eye if you’re desperate for a paddle. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th both have glassy conditions in the morning—dead calm, no wind ripples. The swell is still only 1ft ESE, so it’s a longboard or foamie session at best. Those are the most user-friendly moments for a beginner, but don’t expect any real rides.
Around Wednesday the 15th, we see a tiny bump to 2ft, but it’s coming from the NE with a short period of 7 seconds. That’s weak, windswell junk, and the wind is cross-on, so it’s going to be choppy. That pattern of small, short-period, onshore slop continues through to the 16th and 17th.
Into the second week, from the 18th to the 22nd, the swell stays flat at 1ft. A few mornings, like the 18th and 19th, have clean conditions with cross-offshore breezes from the SW, but again, it’s barely surfable. By the 21st, there’s a risk of t-storms, but the wind stays clean and cross-off. The 23rd shows a brief spike to 2ft from the SE, but the period drops to a pathetic 4 seconds and the wind is howling cross-on at 16 mph. That’s just unsurfable chop.
Honestly, if the swell ever did get over 5ft here, it’d be too big for beginners, but we’re nowhere near that. For the entire 16-day period, there’s no single standout. The best you could hope for is a glassy morning on July 13th or 14th with a longboard, just to get wet. But for any real waves? This is a blank run. Spanish House is an inconsistent spot, and this forecast shows exactly why. Sometimes it just goes quiet for a while. Keep your eye on the charts, because it tends not to stay poor forever.
