Table - best surf conditions forecast for Marlin over the next 16 days.
Alright, surfers, Rusty here again, looking at the numbers for this spot. Let’s be straight: the outlook for the next 16 days is a total bomb. There are no standout days, no clean conditions, just a long stretch of blown-out and choppy surf. I’m not seeing a single session worth chasing.
Starting off Friday the 10th at Marlin, we’ve got a tiny 4ft swell from the SSE, 11-second period, and a consistent onshore breeze from the ESE at 6 mph. The water temp is 80°, which is pretty normal for this time of year, but the waves are just weak and messy. Combined energy is 387, which is moderate, but with that wind, it’s a total mess.
Saturday the 11th doesn't get any better. The swell is 4ft from the SE with a longer 13-second period (energy 534), but the wind swings cross-onshore from the east at 9 mph. The comment says it’s “marginal,” which is code for “don’t bother.” It’s just going to be lumpy.
Sunday the 12th through Tuesday the 14th, the swell drops off a cliff. We’re talking 3ft down to 2ft, with some reading as low as 87 on the energy scale. The wind stays cross-onshore or light cross-shore. It’s flat and choppy. That’s a dead period.
Wednesday the 15th brings some size – 6ft from the south – but the period crashes to 8 seconds. That’s short-period, wind-driven junk. The energy climbs to 732, but with thunderstorms likely and a 12 mph cross-onshore breeze, the wave quality is described as “poor.” For a beach break with this constant onshore wind, this looks more like a kite-surfing day than a paddle-surfing day.
Thursday the 16th is similar: 5ft swell from the SSE at 13 seconds (energy 878), but still cross-onshore winds at 12 mph. Friday the 17th is the biggest of the period: 8ft from the SSE, energy hitting a massive 1789. That’s a lot of power, but the wind is still cross-onshore. It’s going to be a tough, blown-out day, and 8ft is strictly for experienced surfers only – and they won't find any clean faces.
From Saturday the 18th all the way to the end on Saturday the 25th, it’s the same old story. Swell between 2ft and 5ft, period between 8 and 13 seconds, and the wind from the ESE or SE, always onshore or cross-onshore. There are a couple of “marginal” tags in there, but no green lights. It’s a solid 16-day stretch of nothing.
Keep your board in the shed for now. This run is a total blank. The conditions can change, but for now, there’s nothing here.
Rusty.
