Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let's talk Marlin in feet, because that's what we do.
It's a rough couple of weeks, mate. The forecast is mostly poor, with just a couple of moments where you might find something rideable.
Starting Sunday the 5th of July, we get a 5ft swell from the ESE, but the wind is on it. The wave energy is moderate (338), but it's tagged as poor. Monday and Tuesday are much the same – swell drops, wind stays on or cross-onshore. Not good.
The whole first week is a write-off. Wednesday the 8th gives us a 3ft S swell with a 12-second period, but it's cross-on and still weak (359). Saturday the 11th of July is the first real chance. A 4ft SE swell with a 12-second period, and the energy picks up to 394 – still moderate, but the best we see. The wind is cross-on from the east, so it'll be bumpy. It's a gamble.
Sunday the 12th is similar, with a cross-shore wind from the NNE making it a touch cleaner, but the swell is still 4ft. Energy sits at 368.
Into the second week, it's a long, flat run. From Monday the 13th to Sunday the 19th, the swell stays under 3ft, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore. Wave energy drops to the double digits (as low as 79 on Wednesday the 15th). There's one tiny spike on Saturday the 18th with a 1ft SE swell but a very long 16-second period – groundswell, but it's tiny, and the energy is low (137). Not worth it.
The final chance is Monday the 20th of July. A 4ft ENE swell but with a short 6-second period and a cross-shore wind from the NNE. Energy is moderate (198), but the quality is poor.
If you're determined, Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th is your best shot, with the 4ft SE swell and a 12-second period. It won't be clean, but it's the most energy we see. Water temp is average for July.
Given the persistent onshore winds and small, weak swell, this whole period looks more like a kitesurfing situation than a paddle surfing one. The break is consistent, so it won't stay this poor forever – forecasts can change.
That's the news from Marlin.
