Marbella - Playa del Cable Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, it's Rusty here. I’ve had a good look at the charts for the next couple of weeks, and honestly, it’s a pretty quiet picture for our corner of the coast. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak swell with mostly poor conditions, but there are a couple of windows where it might just come together for a session.

For the first few days, don’t even bother. Monday morning (Sept 7th) is glassy but tiny, with a pathetic 1ft of east swell. The energy is a measly (5). It’s just not enough to push a wave. That flat spell hangs around until Wednesday (Sept 9th) morning when a little 3ft push from the WSW shows up, but the period is a short 4 seconds, so it’s going to be bumpy and weak. The wind is clean, but the swell is just too small to get excited about.

The real standout, the only one worth marking on your calendar, is Friday morning, September 11th. The swell jumps up to 4ft from the east, with a period of 6 seconds. The energy reading hits a solid (219), which is a big boost from the days before. What makes it a winner is the light offshore breeze from the NE keeping things clean. This is your best chance for a couple of fun, rippable waves on the beach. The afternoon on the same day will see the wind turn onshore, so it’s a morning mission all the way.

Saturday morning, September 12th, is also a contender. The swell is a little bigger at 5ft from the east, and the period stretches to 8 seconds, giving it a bit more push. The winds are glassy, which is a total bonus. The wave energy is strong at (253), so don’t expect a gentle paddle out. This is a solid option for intermediate to experienced surfers—the 5ft height might be a bit much for beginners. The afternoon sees the wind clock around, making it messy.

After that, it’s back to the doldrums. Sunday (Sept 13th) morning has a drop to 3ft, and the energy is gone (83). The wind is okay, but it’s a half-hearted wave. The rest of the second week is a sad story of tiny, weak swells, mostly under 3ft, with wind directions that are never quite right. The period is short, the energy is in the single digits or low teens, and it’s just not worth paddling out for. We’re looking at over a week of flat, poor conditions from the 14th of September right through to the end of the forecast.

Honestly, for this 16-day window, it’s a case of one good morning and one decent morning. The rest is a write-off. The water is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. If the swell and wind keep up like this, it’s a better week for a longboard and a small wave fin, or just a beach walk. I’d be keeping an eye on that Friday morning, September 11th. That’s your best bet.
