The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down what we’re looking at.

To be honest, the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat. There’s a big stretch of nothing at the start, with no real surf to speak of. The first chance we get at anything worth mentioning won’t come until Monday, August 3rd.

The only break in the picture is La Chucha. This is an inconsistent reef break, so it’s a spot that needs the right conditions to fire. It’s a more beginner-friendly wave when it’s working. It’s fairly exposed to swell from the southeast, but that’s not what’s coming.

The only surfable waves show up around Monday, August 3rd. That morning, we’re looking at a small 3ft swell from the WSW with a 6-second period. The combined energy is weak (65), so it’s got no grunt. The wind will be light and cross-offshore, making it clean, but it’s still just ordinary surf. Tuesday the 4th morning is similar – 4ft from the WSW, light cross-off wind, clean. Energy is still weak (85). The real highlight, if you can call it that, comes Thursday the 6th morning. It’s glassy, dead calm, with a 4ft WSW swell and energy just cracking the moderate range at 102. That’s the cleanest and biggest we’ll see, but the period is still short, so the waves will be soft and weak.

After that, it’s back to tiny, poor conditions until Friday the 14th, which shows another 3ft WSW swell with clean winds.

Honestly, there’s no standout session here. The swell is small, the period is short, and the waves will lack any power. For a beginner looking for a safe, clean paddle at an inconsistent reef, the morning of August 6th might be your best bet. For anyone else, this is a long wait for a whole lot of nothing.

Rusty.
