Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple weeks.
First up, we’re looking at La Yerbabuena, a point/river setup that gets inconsistent, but when it’s on, it’s a special kind of wave. Right now, we’re in a flat spell. No surf worth paddling out for from now until the end of July. That’s a solid week-plus of nothing doing. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing wild there.
The first real glimmer comes on Monday the 3rd of August. Monday morning at La Yerbabuena, we’ve got a glassy calm, tiny 3ft swell from the WNW with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is weak (91), and it’s described as surfable but very ordinary. It’s not gonna get the heart racing, but it’s a start after a long dry spell. The wind is glassy, so the surface will be clean. Crowds are possible here, so you might have company.
The rest of the first week of August stays small. Tuesday morning the 4th brings a clean 2ft from the west with a light cross-offshore breeze, but the energy is still flat (36). The best looking session in the whole run is actually Tuesday afternoon the 4th – glassy again, with a tiny 2ft swell from the SSW. It’s not big, but glassy conditions at an inconsistent point break like this can be a real treat. Expect a bit of a mellow wave.
Wednesday the 5th of August finishes the outlook with a glassy 0.7ft from the WNW – basically a lake.
So, the standout? If you’re desperate for a paddle, Monday the 3rd of August morning is the biggest offering, but it’s still very small. The real quality session is Tuesday the 4th afternoon – glassy, clean, and about as peaceful as it gets. It’s not a hero session, but for a quiet, clean wave at La Yerbabuena, it’s a nice little window. Keep your expectations low on size, but high on vibes.
