The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer.
Honestly, the next week and a half is a real struggle. We’ve got a long stretch of flat, tiny, or just plain messy conditions. The only real pulse of energy comes right at the end of the first week, but it’s not making the grade. For Molino de Papel, this is a lean run.
Things start off dead flat. Tuesday morning, July 14th, you’re looking at a 0.3ft easterly dribble with a period of just 7 seconds and combined energy of only 1 – that’s barely a ripple. And it doesn’t get any better. The whole week through to Sunday July 19th is a write-off, with waves under 1.5ft most days and the combined swell energy stuck in single digits. It’s a long, quiet stretch.
The first faint glimmer shows up on Monday July 20th. The morning sees a 3ft easterly swell, period 6 seconds, with energy at 60 (moderate). It’s still weak, but with glassy conditions, it’s at least clean. The surf is very ordinary but surfable – the best of a bad lot, yet nothing to get excited about. That pulse holds through Tuesday July 21st with a consistent 2.5ft easterly swell and glassy conditions, but the period stays short at 6 seconds, so the waves are soft and lack punch.
After that, it’s back to the doldrums. From Wednesday July 22nd all the way through to Wednesday July 29th, the swell drops back to 1.5ft or less. Combined energy barely scrapes into double digits, and the conditions are a mix of glass and light cross-offshore or cross-onshore winds. Nothing worth paddling out for.
The one standout? If you’ve got a longboard and patience, Monday July 20th and Tuesday July 21st offer the only clean, glassy windows with a tiny waist-high push. But it’s far from pumping. The rest of the 16-day window is a flat, frustrating wait.
