Alright, let me tell you what's happening with Puerto Cabopino.
Honestly, for most of this forecast, I'm looking at a whole lot of flat and poor conditions. We've got a massive gap of surf that's just not worth paddling out for. It's going to take us all the way from now, right through the 12th of July and well over a week, until we see something real. The water temperature is sitting around 72°, which is about normal for this time of year, so you won't need a thick suit, just a whole lot of patience.
You're going to be staring at glassy mornings with barely a ripple, like Tuesday the 14th, but with almost no swell to show for it. There are a few tiny pulses here and there, some clean offshore mornings on the 15th and 16th, but the swell is tiny and weak. You'll see the combined wave energy measurements staying in the low teens and twenties (like 13 or 20), which is just too weak to push anything worthwhile.
Finally, things look to wake up on Friday the 24th. That morning, Puerto Cabopino is going to see a proper increase in size. We're talking a clean 6ft swell coming from the WSW with that clean offshore wind. The energy jumps way up to 223, which is solid. That is the standout window in this entire forecast. That's going to be a real surfable morning for the experienced crew. It's a sandbar setup, so that kind of size from the west with offshore wind can line up some nice, rippable walls. There might be some bigger sets, so it's not a beginner wave that day; it's one for the lads who know what they're doing.
After that, it settles down again. The 26th and 27th of July offer some glassy mornings with a little chest-high swell close to 3ft coming from the east, but it's nothing special, just ordinary.
So to be straight with you: the whole 16-day window is mostly a write-off for any decent surf, except for that one standout morning on the 24th. If you can, hold out for that Friday.
Rusty.
