Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for the next couple of weeks at Cabo Roche.
To be honest, the next ten days are a write-off for any sort of decent surf. We’re looking at tiny, weak swells – mostly around 0.7 ft to 2.3 ft – and the wind is almost always onshore or cross-onshore, just mucking things up. The wave energy is super low, barely hitting triple digits until much later. It’s going to be a flat, bumpy stretch with poor conditions day after day. You’ll be staring at a glassy sea with barely a ripple, but there’s no push to it.
The first real glimmer of hope shows up on Saturday the 18th of July. The morning brings a slight bump in swell to 3.3 ft from the WNW, and the wind swings light from the SSE – that’s a clean, cross-off breeze. The wave energy is still modest at 81, but for the first time in ages, the waves are *surfable*. It’s ordinary, but it’s a start.
Then on Sunday the 19th of July, we see the main event of the entire run. The morning has 3.9 ft of WNW swell with a light onshore wind out of the west at just 6 mph – that’s actually not bad for the wave shape. The combined energy pushes up to 128, which is moderate. By the afternoon, the swell drops a touch to 3.3 ft, but the energy kicks up further to 179. The wind gets stronger from the west though, and onshore, so the morning window is your best bet. This is the standout: the biggest swell of the period, with enough power to give some proper rides at Cabo Roche. It’s not clean glass, but for this region, it’s the best on offer. Beginners should be fine with the 3.9 ft, but keep an eye on the wind.
After that, it fades back to small, poor conditions through the 20th and 21st. So, if you’re holding out, the 19th is your day. Everything before that is a flat spell.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Warm (max 34°C on Mon afternoon, min 24°C on Sun night). Winds decreasing (fresh winds from the ESE on Sun night, light winds from the WNW by Tue night). | Days 5-7 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Warm (max 27°C on Wed night, min 21°C on Thu morning). Wind will be generally light. | ||||||||||||||||||||
