Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cabo Roche over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s look at what’s shaping up at Cabo Roche. Honestly, it’s a pretty bleak outlook for a while. We’re looking at nearly two weeks of flat, messy conditions before anything really shows its face.
From Saturday July 11th through to Saturday July 18th, it’s mostly small, weak swell – most readings show wave energy below 100, even as low as 13. That’s weak, with swell heights between 1 ft and 4 ft coming from the west or west-northwest. Winds are nearly always blowing cross-on or onshore, leaving the water choppy and uninviting. Not much to get excited about.
Then on the morning of Sunday July 19th, we finally get a small window. Swell bumps up to 4 ft from the WNW, with a combined energy of 107 – still just moderate. But the wind shifts to a light cross-offshore from the SSE, and it’s described as clean. That’s a nice change, and the water temp is a touch warmer than average for the season at 74°.
Monday morning July 20th offers another small chance. Swell drops back to 3 ft from the WNW, but we get a good offshore wind from the ESE at 12 mph, making for clean, lined-up waves. The energy is only 44, so it’s not punchy, but on a longboard you could have some fun.
After that, it goes flat again. From Tuesday July 21st through to Friday July 24th, the swell drops to barely 0.7 ft, and then a small pulse of 3 ft on Friday the 24th but with cross-onshore winds messing it up. Not worth the trip.
Then on the very last day of the forecast, Sunday July 26th, we get a real treat. The morning is glassy – dead calm, no wind. Swell is 2 ft from the WNW, energy is 65, and it’s described as ‘surfable’ with glassy conditions. That’s your standout window, but it’s more than two weeks away, so keep your fingers crossed.
Bottom line: Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th are your early hopeful days, but that glassy Sunday the 26th could be the real gem. Most of the time, it’s just small and messy. Best to wait and see.
