Alright, I’m gonna level with you—we’re looking at a pretty flat spell here. For the next 16 days, the only break on the radar is Las Redes, a beginner-friendly sandbar that’s fairly consistent, but the swell just isn’t showing up. The first recommendation, if you can call it that, is on Sunday, July 5th, but it’s a no-go. We’ve got a 0.2ft leftover bump from the W, but with a 12 mph ESE cross breeze and a combined energy of only 8 (weak), it’s just not worth paddling out. The water’s sitting at 78°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year—nearly 7° above average, so it’s a real anomaly.
Honestly, the whole first week is a write-off. Swells barely tickle 4ft on the Sunday afternoon, but that’s a short-period 5-second SE windswell, and the wind is onshore and choppy. Through Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday—tiny waves, onshore or cross-onshore breezes, and energy readings rarely cracking 30. About the only thing worth noting is Tuesday morning, July 7th, when it goes glassy with easterly winds, but the swell is a pathetic 0.3ft from the W. Not even a ripple to ride.
This dead pattern stretches all the way through the second week. By Saturday, July 11th, we see the biggest bump of the whole forecast—a 3ft swell from the WNW with a 6-second period, but again, the wind is cross-onshore and choppy. Energy hits a moderate 69, but that’s still low. It’s just not surfable. The same story repeats right through to the end on Monday, July 20th—small, weak waves, mostly cross-onshore breezes, and poor conditions.
There are no standouts here. No day where you’d look at the ocean and feel that stoke. For a beginner spot that’s fairly consistent, this is a rough stretch. But hey, it never stays this flat forever, and forecasts can change. For now, leave the board in the car.
