Table - best surf conditions forecast for Las Redes over the next 16 days.
Right, mate, Rusty here. Let’s have a honest look at the forecast for Las Redes. I’ll be straight with you – it’s a tough run ahead. The whole 16-day window is pretty grim, with no real standout sessions and hardly any wave energy to get excited about. The water is sitting at 77°F which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s something, but it doesn’t help the surf.
The first few days are a write-off. Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th have tiny, weak swell around 2ft to 2ft from the WSW and W, with a short period of 4 to 5 seconds and combined energy readings of just 12 to 26 – that’s really weak. On top of that, the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, making it choppy and messy. Not worth paddling out.
Sunday the 12th offers a little more period – up to 9 seconds – but the swell is still tiny at 1.0ft to 2ft, and the wind is cross-shore, so you’re looking at a cross-chop. The energy is only 24 to 41, still weak. Nothing to chase.
From Monday the 13th through to Thursday the 17th, the pattern stays the same: small, weak swell, mostly under 2ft, with periods all over the place. A few mornings like Monday the 13th and Wednesday the 15th have light cross-offshore winds and clean conditions, which is rare, but the swell is just too small – 2ft at best, with energy in the low 20s. It’s a flat spell dressed up as a surf forecast.
Friday the 17th is the worst of the lot – swell drops to 0.3ft on the morning with a period of 9 seconds, energy of just 2. That’s barely a ripple.
Saturday the 18th brings the biggest swell of the whole window – 3ft from the WNW with a 6-second period and combined energy of 47. The morning has a gentle cross-offshore breeze, so it’ll be clean. But let’s be real: 3ft with a short period on a sandbar setup is not going to give you much. It’s the best on offer, but that’s not saying much.
After that, it’s back to tiny, weak surf from Sunday the 19th through to the end of the period. From the 23rd of July onwards, there’s actually no swell recorded at all for a couple of days, with zeros for swell height and energy. Then on the 25th, you get a brief pulse of 3ft from the WNW again, with 6-second period and energy of 61 – still weak, and the wind is cross-onshore, so it’ll be choppy.
Honestly, mate, there’s no standout here. The best chance for a surf is Saturday morning the 18th of July – clean conditions, a little bump of 3ft, but it’s a beginner-friendly sandbar break and the consistency is only fairly consistent. If you’re desperate, that’s your window. Otherwise, keep the board in the car and wait for a better forecast.
Rusty.
