Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's happening on the water. For the better part of the next week and a half, it's gonna be a snooze fest. Swell is tiny, wind is messy, and you're not missing much. The first little blip of surf doesn't really show up until way down the line.
Starting off on Monday, July 6th, there's nothing at all. Swell is a measly 1ft from the SE with a real short period. The water is a very warm 78°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's the only highlight. The wind is cross-off in the morning, so it'll look clean, but there's just no push. The rest of that week and into the next is more of the same—puny swells, mostly onshore or cross-on breezes, and a whole lot of flat water. The combined energy barely gets out of the low double digits.
We finally get a little life on Friday, July 17th. The morning shows a 4ft swell from the WNW with a 6-second period and a clean, cross-off wind at 9 mph. The energy is still low at 79, and the quality isn't there, but it's better than the dead flat spell. Still poor conditions though, just a little more size.
The only real window to paddle out is on Saturday, July 18th. The morning at Las Redes sees a 4ft swell from the WNW, with a 6-second period and clean, glassy conditions as the wind goes cross-off from the NNW at 9 mph. The combined energy finally bumps into the moderate zone at 133, the best we've seen. It's "surfable but very ordinary," so don't expect perfection. But it's your best shot for a wave. The size is manageable, so beginners can handle it, and the clean wind will be a welcome change from all the chop.
After that, Sunday the 19th and into the next week drops right back off with onshore winds and smaller swells. There's a hint of something on the 21st with a 5ft swell from the ESE and energy at 168, but the cross-on wind and short period will keep it rough. A quiet stretch, but if you're jonesing, that Saturday morning is the one to circle.
Rusty.
