Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – we’re looking at a pretty bleak stretch ahead. For the next 16 days, there’s really nothing to get excited about at Las Redes. We’ve got a solid two-week-plus run of either no swell or conditions that just aren’t gonna work for a decent paddle.
Let’s break it down. Starting from Saturday the 4th of July, it’s a write-off. Tiny, weak swell and messy wind. We see the occasional glimpse of clean conditions, like on the morning of Wednesday the 8th of July with glassy water and light winds, but the swell’s barely a whisper at 1 ft from the WNW. The combined energy is a pathetic 9 (weak). That’s a lake, not a surf break. For anyone thinking of a paddle, forget it.
The pattern doesn't improve. The whole first week is plagued by cross-shore and onshore winds, with lumps and chop. There’s a brief moment on the morning of Thursday the 16th of July where it goes totally glassy again, but again, the swell is a paltry 2 ft from the SE with a short period of 4 seconds. Combined energy is only 17 (weak). It’s just not pushing any power.
Into the second week, hope doesn't show its face. The winds stay messy, mostly onshore or cross, and the swell heights barely tickle 4 ft on a few afternoons, but that comes with a rough, lumpy sea state from a fresh breeze. It’s the kind of setup that looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer—just wind and chop.
To put it plainly: there are no standouts here. Not a single solid day where the stars align. The whole 16-day window is a gap of poor surf. For Las Redes, it’s a normal quiet spell, but that doesn’t make it any easier. We keep an eye on the charts, but for now, the boards stay in the bag.
