Alright, let me have a look at what we’ve got. To be straight with you, it’s a pretty flat and frustrating stretch ahead for Las Redes. The swell is tiny almost the whole 16 days, and when there is a little bump, the wind just won’t play nice. For a beginner-friendly sandbar, this is one of those quiet runs where you might be better off waiting for a change.
We start off Thursday the 9th with a tiny 2ft swell from the west, period way down at 4 seconds, and a moderate cross-onshore breeze. The wave energy is weak (18). It’s basically a washout. That sets the tone. Friday and Saturday stay small – 2ft to 3ft – with the same cross-onshore wind keeping things choppy. The water temp on the 9th is 77°, which is a massive 6° warmer than normal – that’s very unusual for this time of year, so at least it’ll feel like a bath.
Sunday the 12th brings a slight change: a 1ft to 1ft swell, but with a period of 9 seconds. That’s a longer period, which suggests a little more shape, but the swell height is too small to do anything with. The energy is still low (25-28), and winds remain cross-onshore. By Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th, the swell stays under 2ft, and the wind finally turns cross-offshore on the 13th morning – glassy, clean conditions – but the swell is only 1ft. You could paddle around on a log, but it’s not surfable.
Wednesday the 15th through the 16th, it’s the same story: tiny swell, clean windows on the 15th morning and 16th morning when the breeze is light and cross-off, but the waves are 0.7ft. That’s knee-high at best. The energy is in single digits – barely a tickle.
The best window in the whole forecast? I’d point you to Sunday the 19th morning. The wind goes glassy – dead calm – and the swell bumps up to 3ft from the WNW with a 5-second period. The wave energy hits 50, which is still weak but the highest we see. It’s small, it’s short-period, and it won’t hold much power, but those clean, glassy conditions at a beginner-friendly sandbar could give you a few soft, fun little waves if you’re patient and not expecting much. That’s the standout, but it’s a quiet, mellow one.
After that, Monday the 20th sees a 1ft cross-on mess, and then the 21st to 23rd? Windy, onshore, and mostly flat. On Thursday the 23rd, a 3ft swell shows up from the WNW with a 6-second period, but with a fresh cross-onshore at 19 mph, it’ll be lumpy and blown out – that’s kite-surfing conditions, not paddle surfing.
Friday the 24th morning is the last clean window: a 3ft swell from the west, 6-second period, and a moderate cross-offshore breeze. The energy is 43. It’s small, but clean. A tiny little session for someone who just needs to get wet.
Honestly, there’s nothing big or powerful on offer here. The energy never cracks three digits. If you’ve got a longboard and low expectations, the glassy mornings on the 13th, 16th, and especially the 19th are your best bets. Otherwise, this is a two-week stretch of flatness that’s more about waiting than riding.
