Table - best surf conditions forecast for Las Redes over the next 16 days.
Alright, let me take a look at what we’ve got coming up for Las Redes over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, this is a rough one. The water is sitting at 76°, which is much warmer than usual for the season, feels like a hot tub. But that’s about the only good news.
For the first week, from Wednesday, July 8th through about Tuesday, July 14th, it’s tiny and chopped up. Swell heights are puny – 0.7 ft to 2 ft, coming from the W or WSW with really short periods of 4 to 7 seconds. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, just ruining any chance of a clean face. The combined wave energy is weak, sitting between 6 and 42. You’re basically looking at a lake out there.
The closest thing to a highlight shows up on Wednesday, July 15th and Thursday, July 16th. The early mornings look clean with a light NNW or NW breeze going cross-offshore. You might see waves around 3 ft to 3 ft from the WNW, but the period stays short at 5 seconds, with weak to moderate energy (37 to 38). They’ll look a bit better in the morning light, but the power just isn’t there. Crowds are sometimes a factor here, so you might have a few other hopefuls out for the ankle-biters.
After that, it’s a long, flat patch. A little pulse shows on the morning of Monday, July 20th, with the swell hitting 3 ft from the WNW at 8 seconds, pushing the energy up to 110. That’s the most we see, but the wind turns gusty and cross-onshore again, so it’ll be bumpy. Not really worth the drive.
From July 21st onward, it goes dead flat for a couple of days – no swell at all. Then the very last day, Thursday, July 23rd, shows a tiny 2 ft, 5-second WNW swell with a light ENE cross-offshore breeze, making it look clean. But it’s still weak at 34 energy.
Sorry to say, but Las Redes is in a deep lull. The sandbar can be fairly consistent, but it needs a proper push. Right now, there’s just nothing to get excited about. This is one of those blank runs for the area. Best to hang up the wetsuit and wait for a change in the charts.
Stay patient.
