Table - best surf conditions forecast for Las Redes over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for the next couple of weeks. Straight up, I gotta be honest with ya – it’s a bit of a tough stretch. The swell is tiny and the winds are mostly working against us, so we’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. The water is running about 77°, which is a good 6° warmer than you’d expect for this time of year – that’s a seriously unusual warm spell, so at least you won’t need a thick suit.
For the first week and a half, everything is rated as poor. We’re talking waves below 3 ft for days on end, with cross-shore and cross-onshore breezes making a mess of things. The combined energy is almost always in the weak range (under 100) – a piddly 16, then 10, then 38. It’s just not worth paddling out.
We finally get a little glimmer of hope on Wednesday, July 24th. During the morning, we’ll see a bump in swell to 4 ft from the WNW, with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy jumps up to a moderate 122, so there’s a bit more push. The wind will be cross-shore and moderate though, so it’ll be a bit lumpy. That’s the only day that even sniffs at being a goer for the whole 16-day run. For the rest of the time, the wind is either onshore, cross-onshore, or just too strong to make these tiny waves rideable.
Forget about Friday the 26th – it’s clean with a bit of offshore from the N, but the wave height is a pathetic 0.7 ft. That’s a lake, not a surf break.
So, the hard truth is there’s really only one window worth talking about: Wednesday, July 24th morning at Las Redes. That 4 ft WNW swell with moderate energy (122) is the best we’re going to get. It’s not a standout by any stretch, but it’s the only time the numbers line up for a paddle. Don’t expect perfection, but it’s the least worst option on the table. The rest of the time? Save your wax.
Rusty.
