Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Vale do Lobo's got cookin' for us.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. We're lookin' at a long, dry spell. From now until the 10th of July, it's basically a write-off. Tiny swells, messy winds, and just nothing to get excited about. It's gonna be a real test of patience. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so at least it won't be a shock to the system when you finally get in.
The first real flicker of life doesn't show up until the morning of Saturday the 12th of July. We've got a little 2ft swell rollin' in from the west. It's not much, and the conditions are just "ordinary," but it's glassy – that offshore wind from the WNW will have it lookin' clean. The energy is weak (46), but hey, it's something to paddle around on. If you're absolutely jonesin', this is your window, but don't expect any fireworks.
Then we get a tease on Monday the 13th. A tiny 0.7ft pulse, but with a really long 14-second period from the WSW. The energy is still weak (45), and while the morning looks clean with a light ESE breeze, that long period on a beach break like this often makes things fat and straight. It's a gamble.
Things start to look a little more promising by Tuesday the 14th. The morning sees a 2ft west swell, with a bit more push and an energy reading of 98 (moderate). The wind is light and offshore from the ESE, so conditions should be clean. This is the first window where you might actually catch a couple of fun ones. Still small, but the quality is there.
Another glassy morning pops up on Wednesday the 15th, with a 1ft swell from the WSW. The energy is low (44), but again, glassy conditions with a light southerly breeze will make it look better than it is. Perfect for the beginner crew that this spot is known for.
After that, we fade back into small, windy, and generally unappealing conditions through the rest of the period. There is a bigger spike in swell on the 17th, with a 2ft WNW pulse and energy up to 90, but it's getting hammered by a strong 19 mph cross-onshore wind, turning it into a lumpy mess. That setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, to be honest.
So, the standout, if you can even call it that, is the morning of Tuesday the 14th of July. It's the best combo of a little bit of size (2ft from the west), clean conditions with offshore wind, and the most energy we see all period. It's not a world-beater, but it's the best on offer by a long shot. Keep your expectations low, and you might just have a quiet session to yourself.
Rusty.
