Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jax Beach Pier over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s just get this out of the way: there’s no good surfing to be had at Jax Beach Pier over this whole 16-day stretch. The forecast is basically a flat spell with some tiny bumps but the conditions never come together for anything worth paddling out for. It’s a pretty disappointing outlook overall, but it happens.
We start off with a real weak, tiny pulse. Sunday the 12th, there’s only a 0.3 ft east swell with a 9-second period, and cross-off wind on the morning keeps the 2 combined energy pretty limp. The afternoon tries a sliver bigger at 1.0 ft from the ESE but it’s a clean cross-shore breeze, yet the 21 combined energy is still dead and the wave quality is poor. Monday the 13th is no better, flat-looking 0.3 ft morning, then a 1 ft pulse late under offshore wind but the swell period drops to 8 seconds and the 28 combined energy is still pathetically weak. Not one session here is worth it.
Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th repeat the same story: all 1.0 ft to 1 ft ESE swells with poor 8 to 9-second periods, combined wave energy struggling to hit 32 at best. Wednesday morning goes glassy, which is beautiful window dressing, but you’re looking at 1.0 ft of almost nothing. There’s simply no push.
And this grim pattern just drags on. From Thursday the 16th all the way through Sunday morning the 26th, we see mostly 0.7 ft to 1 ft of ESE swell – with the occasional 3 ft on Sunday the 19th afternoon or a 3 ft on Saturday the 25th afternoon, but the period is 4 to 5 seconds and it's a steep, choppy beach break. The combined energy of 66 on the 25th afternoon is the biggest all month but it’s still in the moderate weak range, and the 5-second period means it’s a jumbled mess. Swells like that with short period are no fun. Even Monday the 27th closes with a 0.7 ft snoozer.
Let’s be real – the water temperature is about average for the time of year. The crowds at Jax Beach Pier are set to "often", so you’d have a lot of people floating around on very little, which is just frustration in the lineup. The break is super consistent for seeing waves but not for giving you any quality. Onshore flows on some afternoons, and the wind is often cross or cross-offshore which is clean but doesn't make these tiny waves any better.
If you’re a beginner, the small size under 5 ft is safe, but 1.0 ft is just not surfable. For the rippers, there’s nothing to even get vertical on.
It’s honestly a blank run here for two and a half weeks. There’s nothing to be excited about. If you’ve got a kite, the bigger afternoon breezes and clean faces on those 3 ft days on Saturday the 25th might be more your speed, but for a surfboard, leave it at home. Forecasts can change but right now this is a total washout.
Stay patient, Rusty.
