Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s take a look at Marley over the next couple of weeks.
We’re kicking off with some real muscle from the ocean, but the wind is just spoiling it. There’s a strong, bumpy cross-onshore blow that’s gonna make things ugly for a stretch. It’s a rough start, and we’re looking at a few days of pretty ordinary conditions. Don’t rush out.
These first few days have got decent size—around 8 to 12 feet from the SSE and SE—but that south wind is wrecking it. There’s a ton of energy in the water (2342 on Tuesday, 2700 Tuesday afternoon, 1696 Wednesday morning), but with that cross-on wind, it’s all lumpy and choppy. Not surfable. Thursday morning keeps the 6 feet but the wind still won’t cooperate. Honestly, with this much wind and swell, it’s looking more like a kite-sailing day than a paddle session.
The silver lining is Saturday the 11th. We finally get a clean offshore wind from the NW in the morning, and the swell drops to a tidy 4 feet from the SE with a 9-second period. Not huge, but it’ll be clean and rideable. Saturday afternoon goes glassy, with a 2-foot, 12-second groundswell from the ESE. Long period for a beach break, so it might wall up a bit, but with almost no wind, it’ll be worth a paddle for the patient.
After that, we hit a long dry spell. From Sunday the 12th right through to Wednesday the 15th, the swell fades bad—under 3 feet—and the energy is almost zero (39 to 97). The water is about 64°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
Thursday the 16th throws a bigger one—8 feet from the south with a 13-second period (1729 energy)—but the wind goes cross-on again, making it lumpy. Big, powerful, but messy. That’s an advanced-only day, if you’re keen.
The best call in this whole forecast? That’s Saturday the 11th. A clean 4 feet from the SE with a light NW offshore at Marley. It won’t be pumping, but it’ll be your cleanest shot. Crowds can pop up here, but after a few days of nothing, it might be quiet.
Second week is small again. A little 3-foot offshore breeze on Saturday the 18th, and a clean 3-foot pulse from the south on Wednesday the 22nd, but energy is low and periods are short. Just small, ordinary waves.
It’s a “wait and watch” kind of forecast. One good day in the mix, but you’ve got to be patient.
Rusty.
