Table - best surf conditions forecast for Marley over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, checking in on the surf for Garie-Point. It’s looking pretty quiet for a while, so don’t get your hopes up too high.
Water temp is about 18°, which is just normal for this time of year. Nothing to write home about.
The next few days are a total bust. Tiny swell and poor conditions through Monday and Tuesday. The first real chance of anything comes Wednesday morning, July 15th. We’ve got a 2.4m S swell, but it’s short-period at 10 seconds and the wind is cross-shore. The combined energy is strong (1840), but the whole thing is marginal—tide issues and a bit of chop. By the afternoon, it’s dropping to 2.1m and getting more onshore. Not a standout.
Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th are a washout with onshore winds and weak, dropping swell. Saturday and Sunday the 18th-19th are small and messy with rain.
The real highlight, if you want to call it that, is Wednesday morning, July 22nd. We’ve got a clean 1.2m ENE swell, light offshore wind from the NNW, and the combined energy is moderate (300). The wind is light and offshore, so Marley (Garie-Point) should be glassy and rideable. The period is 10 seconds, so it’ll have some shape. This is a point break that’s very consistent, but crowds can be an issue sometimes. The swell direction from the ENE isn’t a perfect match for the optimum SE, but the clean conditions make it the best on offer.
Thursday morning, July 23rd, is also worth a look—similar 1.2m ENE swell, clean with a light cross-off breeze from the NNW. The energy is lower (244), but it’s still surfable.
After that, it’s back to poor conditions from the 24th through the 28th, with building onshore winds and junk. The 27th and 28th have some small S swell, but it’s short-period and messy.
So, the best window is the 22nd and 23rd of July. Hit the early sessions for the cleanest lines. Otherwise, it’s a long stretch of flat or poor surf.
Rusty.
