Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coney Beach over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Let’s talk Coney Beach. Look, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it—this whole 16-day stretch is flat as a pancake. There’s barely anything to ride, and what’s there is small, choppy, or both. If you’re itching to get wet, you’ll be fighting for a bump, but there’s no real surf to speak of.
Starting Thursday, 9th July, we’ve got a tiny 0.7ft swell from the west, period around 9 seconds, and weak energy (11). The wind’s a light cross-off, which would keep things clean, but the waves are just too small. That’s your preview for the next week and a half.
Friday, 10th July sees the swell bump to 1ft from the WSW, still weak energy (28). Morning’s a cross-on from the ESE, making it choppy, but by afternoon a light NNE cross-off cleans it up. Still, 1ft isn’t gonna get your heart racing. Saturday, 11th July drops back to 0.7ft, cross-shore east wind, period only 8 seconds. Not worth paddling out.
Sunday, 12th July through Tuesday, 14th July is more of the same—tiny swell, often under 2ft, with fresh cross-shore winds messing things up. Energy readings are pathetic, mostly single digits (5–29). You’re better off on the beach with a cold one.
From Wednesday, 15th July right through to the end, there’s a long stretch of almost no surf. Heights hover around 0.3ft to 0.7ft, periods all over the place from 3 to 18 seconds, but zero power behind them. Energy values are all below 30, and on Monday, 20th July and Wednesday, 22nd July the swell flatlines—zero energy. Even when the wind turns offshore or cross-off, like Saturday, 18th July and Sunday, 19th July, the waves are too weak to matter. The biggest we see is 2ft on Sunday, 19th July morning and Wednesday, 22nd July morning, both from the west, but the period is short at 5–6 seconds. Just weak, crumbly junk.
Water temp back on 9th July was 66°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year—a 7°F anomaly—so you won’t need a thick wetsuit for a float, but don’t expect to surf. Coney Beach is a sheltered beginner spot, sheltered from most swell, so these long flat runs are pretty typical. It’s not a place that lights up.
There’s no standout day, no time to get excited. If the wind’s light and offshore, you might catch a tiny ripple on the cleanest mornings, like Sunday, 19th July or Monday, 20th July, but I wouldn’t call it surfing. Keep an eye out—forecasts can change—but right now? It’s a total dud.
Rusty.
