Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the line for Tiririca.
First up, the water is sitting at 79°F with a tiny anomaly, so it’s pretty much just your average balmy July water temperature for this spot. Nothing wild there.
The next week and a bit is a real mixed bag. We’ve got a pulse of moderate swell energy kicking off Friday morning, July 3rd, with chest-high waves around 6ft from the east, but the wind is a cross-on SE breeze, so it’s going to be a bit messy with those ripples. The combined energy is moderate at 570, but the conditions are marginal, so the vibe is a bit average. The afternoon picks up a little more size but the wind stiffens, so it’s not the pick.
Saturday morning, July 4th, is actually a nice little window. The swell drops to a cleaner 5ft from the east, and we get a light cross-off SSW breeze at 6 mph. The energy drops to 338, but it’s clean. That’s a solid session for a beginner-friendly wave. The wind holds through Sunday morning, July 5th, with a similar 5ft east swell and a cross-off wind, so another good one for the longboard or the foamie.
There’s a bit of a dry spell mid-week as the swell fades. Monday morning, July 6th, is small and clean at 3ft, but the energy is weak at 149. Tuesday morning, July 7th, is glassy and tiny at 3ft. It’s rideable for the patient surfer, but nothing to get excited about.
Then we get a shift. Wednesday, July 8th, and Thursday, July 9th, see the direction swing to the SSE with a much longer period, 11-12 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell. The energy picks up again, 207 on Thursday morning, July 9th, with glassy conditions. That’s a standout for the more experienced surfer—the sets will be cleaner and more powerful, but the long period might make it a bit straight at this beach break. Still, a dawn session with no wind is a winner.
The real highlight of the whole 16-day window, though, is Sunday morning, July 12th. The swell is still from the SSE, 4ft at 12 seconds, delivering a solid 397 of combined energy. The wind is glassy, absolutely dead calm. That is the session to circle on the calendar. Clean, well-shaped waves with genuine energy. It’s the best on offer, no question.
After that, the swell fades out through the second week. The wind turns onshore a lot, and the energy drops to weak numbers. There are a couple of glassy mornings with tiny, weak waves, like Wednesday morning, July 15th, but it’s really just a paddle and a small wave. The long-range stuff from mid-July looks weak and inconsistent, with a lot of poor surf conditions.
So, to sum it up: the best surf is Saturday and Sunday mornings, July 4th and 5th, for the clean, fun east swell, but the absolute standout is Sunday morning, July 12th, with glassy conditions and that long-period groundswell. Get out there for that one.
Rusty.
