Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rabbit/Manana Island over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me break down what we’ve got coming up for the Rabbit/Manana Island zone. The honest truth is this forecast is a tough one: for the entire 16-day window, wave conditions are consistently described as poor, with no single day standing out as a good surf option. The prevailing ENE wind blows almost constantly, and it’s always cross-onshore, messy, or lumpy.
The swell direction is mostly from the ENE, which is the opposite of the optimum NNE direction for this spot, so the exposure is working against us. The swell period is short, mostly 6 to 8 seconds, meaning the waves are weak, disorganised windswell. The combined wave energy starts at 348 (moderate) on Friday July 10th, builds to a peak of 531 (moderate) on Sunday July 12th, and then gradually drops. There’s a bit of a spike on July 22nd with a longer period of 14 seconds from the east, but that’s still cross-onshore and lumpy. Water temperature is currently 79°, which is about average for the time of year.
From Friday July 10th right through to Saturday July 25th, the story is the same: strong ENE wind, 15 to 25 mph, and waves in the 4 ft to 7 ft range. The period stays short, so the waves are fat and choppy. Even when the swell pushes over 7 ft, it’s messy and not surfable for a regular paddle session. This setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, honestly. There are simply no standout days, no hidden gems, and no clean windows. The closest you get to a break in the wind is a few days with moderate breeze, but the waves are still choppy and cross-onshore.
So, in short: leave the boards at home for this stretch. The forecast can always change, but as it stands, this is a blank run. It’s a bummer, but it’s the reality of the trade winds funneling straight into the island.
