Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rabbit/Manana Island over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about the surf outlook for the next couple of weeks over at Rabbit/Manana Island. We’ve got a stretch ahead that’s frankly a bit rough, so don’t get your hopes up for any magic sessions. The overall picture is dominated by a persistent, strong onshore flow out of the ENE that just won’t let up, creating messy, choppy conditions day after day. The wave energy is moderate at best, often weak.
Starting off on Sunday, July 12th, it’s a write-off. We’re looking at 7ft of short-period, wind-affected ENE swell, but the wind is howling at 25 mph from the same direction, making it a strong cross-shore mess. Wave energy is moderate at 516. This is pure grinder material, not for a paddle board. By Monday the 13th, the swell drops a bit to 6ft, but we’ve still got a fresh cross-onshore wind at 22 mph. It’s lumpy and poor.
Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th see the swell fade further to 5ft and then 4ft, but the cross-onshore wind sticks around, keeping things choppy and unappealing. Wave energy drops to weak levels (255 and 160). The pattern stays bleak through the middle of the month. The wind direction might shift to straight cross-shore on Thursday the 16th, but with tiny 3ft swell and weak energy (137), it’s not worth suiting up for.
Things look a bit more energetic again on Sunday July 19th, with 6ft of ENE swell and moderate energy 352. But guess what? Fresh cross-onshore wind is back. It’s a frustrating drag. Even when the swell period jumps up to 16 seconds on Monday July 20th, signaling a long-period groundswell, the swell height is tiny at 2ft and the wind is still a fresh cross-onshore. That combo won’t deliver. The wave energy is moderate (440) but the conditions absolutely kill it.
We see a similar tease on Sunday July 26th and Monday July 27th, with 6ft and then 5ft of swell, but again, it’s accompanied by a fresh cross-onshore wind. The wave energy is moderate (311, 219), but the texture is lumpy and messy every single time.
Honestly, there are no standout windows here. The whole 16-day period is a wipeout for quality surf. The consistent cross-onshore winds ruin everything, even when there’s a bit of size. The best you could hope for is a late-evening lull when the wind might ease, but the data doesn’t show that. For the most part, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Hang in there, gang. Sometimes the ocean just says no.
