Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey, Rusty here again. Let’s break it down for those who think in feet and miles per hour. Aligator Rock is mostly a slow go for the first week, but there are a couple of days where it all comes together. The water is about 79°F – right around average for this time of year.
Friday morning the 3rd of July starts off tiny: 1 feet of NW swell with a 14-second period, cross-off wind from the ENE at 12 mph. The combined energy is weak (48), and conditions are poor. The afternoon gets a little better – 2 feet, offshore wind – but still nothing to write home about. Saturday the 4th brings a messy 5-foot NE swell in the afternoon with a short 8-second period and strong cross-off wind, energy at 401 – just junk. Sunday through Monday are clean but tiny, with fresh offshore winds and waves barely reaching 1 feet.
From Tuesday the 7th through the end of the first week, it’s flat – waves under 1 foot, energy in single digits. That’s nearly four days of nothing.
The standout is Tuesday the 14th of July. Morning and afternoon dish up a clean 2-foot west swell with a 16-second period – proper long-period groundswell. The wind is light offshore from the ENE at 9 mph, near glassy. Combined energy hits 379 in the morning and 419 in the afternoon (strong). The swell direction lines up with the optimum (NW), and the reef will handle it beautifully. Expect good surf conditions. Wednesday the 15th keeps the quality going – 2-foot west swell, period 16 seconds, clean offshore breeze, energy in the 276–283 range. Still very solid.
After that, Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th are surfable but ordinary – smaller 2–2-foot west swells, moderate offshore wind. By Saturday the 18th of July, it’s back to poor surf, tiny waves, and cross-off breeze. Your best bet is the 14th and 15th – clean, lined-up, and worth the paddle.
Catch you in the water,
Rusty
