Alright folks, Rusty here with the long-range look. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it—this 16-day window is mostly dead flat for your local zone.
The water’s running warm, around 64°F, which is way above normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only positive.
We’ve got a big gap of nothing. From now until the 9th, it’s all zeros and poor surf conditions. The first hint of any energy shows up on the 10th with a tiny 2ft easterly windswell, but it’s weak and short period. The real “big” day (and I use that term loosely) is Tuesday the 14th, when we see a 5ft windswell from the east-northeast, but it’s got a nasty 6-second period and cross-onshore wind, so it’s going to be choppy and messy. The energy reading hits 139, but that’s all wind-driven junk.
Your only break is Paignton. It’s a beginner spot, and it’s inconsistent, which is a fair description for this whole forecast. The best chance for a clean wave is the afternoon of Monday the 20th. We’ll have a clean offshore breeze from the west-southwest and a tiny 2ft wave from the east (4-second period). The energy is only 11. It’s small, clean, and totally lacking in power.
If you’re serious about surfing, this isn’t your week. The bigger, choppier days on the 13th, 14th, and 15th would be way better for a kiteboard than a surfboard. That 5ft NE swell with strong onshore wind is more fun on a kite. For a paddle surfer? It’s a waiting game. But hey, the weather’s nice.
Rusty.
