Table - best surf conditions forecast for Paignton over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: this is a tough stretch for Paignton. The whole 16-day window is a write-off for decent surf. The first proper recommendation doesn’t even kick off – the whole run is a blank where the conditions just aren't there for a paddle. We’ve got a solid two weeks-plus of nothing worth getting wet for. It’s the kind of run where you might as well clean your boards and wax up for a future date; this area can go through these quiet spells.
Looking at the detail, it’s grim from the start. Monday 13 July offers a 8 ft easterly swell at 8 seconds, with a moderate 809 combined energy, but a fresh cross-onshore from the ENE at 22 mph has it lumpy and poor. That’s just messy. The rest of that week and into the next is a slow bleed of dropping swell heights and weak windswell, all with onshore or cross-onshore winds. By Friday 17 July into the weekend, the swell has dropped to 1 ft with basically no energy (4 or less). Clean conditions show up from the 22nd onwards, with some offshore and cross-offshore winds, but there’s no swell to work with. The best you’ll see is a 4 ft east-southeast swell on Friday 24 July, but with a moderate breeze straight onshore, it’s never going to clean up. Even if the combined energy creeps to 111 on that day, it's still poor with the wind state.
There are no standouts. Not one. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so at least you won’t freeze while you stare at a flat ocean. Honestly, Paignton is the only option, and it’s a beginner spot that’s inconsistent and only fairly exposed. With the wind and swell combo, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Hang in there, the forecasts can always flip.
