Table - best surf conditions forecast for Mallorca - Paguera Tora over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – I’ve had a good look at the charts for Mallorca - Paguera Tora (Mallorca) and, well, it’s a tough one. This spot is a beach-and-reef setup that rarely breaks, and the next 16 days just aren’t going to deliver the goods for a proper paddle session. The water is sitting at 82°, which is a solid 7° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s a very unusual warm spell, so the water will feel like a bath.
The first couple of days are a write-off. Sunday the 12th has a tiny 0.3ft swell from the west with a weak period of 6 seconds, and a cross-shore wind of 16 mph from the southeast. The combined energy is barely a whisper at 1, and the conditions are just poor. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th bring a little more action, but we’re still looking at swells of 0.7ft to 1ft with periods under 5 seconds. The energy is negligible (2 at best), and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-off. Nothing rideable here.
There’s a gap from Wednesday the 15th through to Saturday the 18th where the swell completely flat-lines. No waves at all, just clean glassy mornings that are only good for a float.
We finally see a tiny bump on Sunday the 19th. The morning brings a 1ft SE swell with a 4-second period and a clean offshore wind from the northeast. The energy is still very weak at 5. By the afternoon, the swell picks up to 2ft from the SSE, with a longer period of 5 seconds, pushing the energy up to 15. But it’s a light cross-onshore breeze, and the surf is still rated as poor. For a spot that rarely breaks, this is about as close as we get, but it’s not worth a special trip.
After that, the outlook tails off again. From Monday the 20th to Thursday the 23rd, we’re back to flat spells or tiny 0.3ft to 0.7ft swells. A few clean offshore mornings pop up, but without any wave energy, it’s just a scenic view.
The best chance across the whole 16 days actually looks like the very end of the run. Saturday the 25th of July. The afternoon sees a 2ft swell from the southeast, with the period stretching to 6 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 48 – the strongest we’ve seen. But the wind is a direct onshore from the SSW at 9 mph, which will mess up the surface. Still, with a bit of size, this beach-and-reef setup might be more interesting for the kite crowd than paddlers.
To be honest, with the swell this small, the periods this short, and the consistency so low, you’re better off booking a trip somewhere else this 16-day window. The forecasts can always change, but for now, it’s a flat spell.
Rusty.
