The Lowdown

Alright, crew, Rusty here again. Let's look at what's cookin' at Ogunquit Rivermouth. Gotta be honest, the next couple of weeks are a bummer for surf. We've got a long stretch of nothing happening. The water's a bit chilly, sitting at about 64°F, a touch colder than average for August.

From the 7th right through to the 18th of August, it's a ghost town. We're talking waves that barely lift your fins, mostly under 2ft, with tiny combined energy readings. You'll see a few glassy mornings on the 8th, 9th, and 13th, but with no swell, it's just a flat, pretty lake. Winds are a mix of light cross-shore and glass, but it doesn't matter when there's nothing to ride.

The only light at the end of the tunnel is the 21st of August. We finally see a pulse of swell hitting about 7ft from the ESE. The energy jumps to 497 (moderate), which is the biggest we see all forecast. That's a real wave for the river mouth. But, and it's a big but, the wind is onshore from the ESE in the morning, and then cross-onshore from the SSE in the afternoon, so it's gonna be a bit messy. Anything over 5ft here is solidly intermediate territory. This is the one day that has a chance, but it's not a sure thing.

The 20th also has some size, with waves around 5ft, but again, the wind is cross-onshore. With the consistent cross-onshore winds and the beach/river setup, a lot of these days with any size might actually be better for kite surfing than paddle surfing. Keep your eyes on that 21st, but don't get your hopes up too high.

Rusty.
