Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a good hard look at what we've got for Les Douaniers over the next couple of weeks. I've gotta be straight with you – this isn't looking like a banner period. The data's all saying the same thing: this spot is going to be flat or offering barely a ripple for the bulk of the forecast.

The first bit of action, or what passes for it, shows up on Saturday the 11th of July. We’re looking at a tiny 2ft swell from the east with a period of 4 seconds, so we’re talking about weak, short-period windswell. The energy reading is a measly (20), which tells you it's barely got any push. Saturday morning has some glassy conditions with a light offshore from the NE, which would be clean, but with that size and period, you'd be fighting for a knee-high wave. Saturday afternoon gets a bit bumpier as the wind picks up to 12 mph from the east, creating a cross-chop. Not the best.

Sunday the 12th sees a slight bump in the numbers. The swell height nudges up to 3ft from the ESE, with a period of 6 seconds, and the energy climbs to (37). It's still very weak, but it’s the biggest call in the whole window. The wind early on Sunday is calm and glassy, which is a major positive for clean conditions. That morning session is the best you're going to find over the whole forecast, but temper your expectations – it's small and weak.

After that little flutter of activity, things really dry up. From Monday the 13th right through to Wednesday the 22nd of July, the forecast is almost entirely flat, with energy readings at zero on most days. There are a few tiny pulses of 0.6ft to 2ft swell here and there, but the wave comment is consistently "poor surf conditions," and the scores reflect that. There's a morning on Sunday the 19th with 2ft swell and calm winds, but again, it's barely enough to wet your fins.

This is an exposed reef, and in theory, it likes a south swell. But nothing's lining up. The combined energy never gets past the double digits except for those two tiny pulses. It’s just not happening. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is a long, frustrating run of flatness.

So, here’s the short of it: If you're desperate for a paddle, that Sunday the 12th of July morning is your only real shout. Get there early for the glass and the cleanest conditions on the tiniest wave you'll see all week. Otherwise, save the wax and the diesel. This is one of those blank runs that reminds you why forecasts change and patience is a virtue. Keep an eye on things, but don't hold your breath.

Rusty.
