Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G'day, Rusty here. I've gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are pretty flat and quiet for the most part. We've got a real run of tiny, poor surf that's not worth paddling out for, and then a little window of hope right at the end of the period.
The first week and a half is a write-off. From Monday the 6th of July right through to Saturday the 19th of July, the waves are just not there. You'll see mornings with a glassy surface and clean conditions, but the swell is tiny – mostly under 2ft and short period, with combined energy barely reaching 22 (weak). A few mornings like Wednesday the 8th of July are glassy but with only 0.3ft of swell, so it's a lake out there. It's frustrating, but it is what it is. The break is Almanarre - Le Petit Port, a reef setup for advanced surfers only, and it rarely breaks anyway, so this kind of flat spell isn't a huge surprise.
Now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sunday the 19th of July afternoon, we finally see some life. A 4ft swell from the west, period around 6 seconds, and combined energy jumps to 146 (moderate). Conditions are clean with a light offshore breeze, but the commentary says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions" – so it's not a standout, just a sign that things are changing.
The real standout, the one to mark in your calendar, is Monday the 20th of July morning. This is the best of the whole forecast. We've got a 5ft west swell, period 6 seconds, and combined energy of 282 (moderate to strong). The wind is offshore from the east at 9 mph, giving us gentle offshore and clean conditions. The report says "expect good surf conditions." For a spot that's rarely breaking, this is a solid little pulse. At 5ft, it's still manageable for strong intermediates but getting punchy – reef break, so watch yourself. This is it, the only real highlight.
After that, Tuesday the 21st of July morning drops back to 2ft with glassy conditions, but the window has closed again.
So, to sum up: a long flat spell, then a brief but promising window around Monday the 20th of July morning. That's your best bet. Keep an eye on it. Rusty.
