The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s happening at La Nartelle. I’ve got to be straight with you – the next couple of weeks look pretty flat. There’s no real swell to get excited about, and no standout days where you’d want to drop everything and paddle out. It’s one of those quiet spells where the Mediterranean just takes a nap.
The forecast starts with a big nothing. From Saturday the 22nd of August right through, it’s all tiny dribble or no surf at all. The water’s sitting at a balmy 82°, which is a whopping 8° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s very unusual, like bath water. But without any energy behind it, you’re just floating.
We see a few days around the 25th and 26th of August where there’s a bit of bump. Tuesday the 25th has a morning pulse of 1ft from the east on a clean offshore. The combined swell energy is almost non-existent (2). Wednesday the 26th morning shows 1ft from the south-southeast, with a bit more energy (18), but it’s cross-on and messy. Nothing here is worth paddling for.
After that, it’s back to flatness. There’s a long gap with no surf recommendations for several days. The only faint glimmer is Friday the 4th of September, with a glassy morning and a tiny 0.3ft south swell (energy 1) – you’d need a handboard and a lot of patience.
Honestly, this stretch is a blank run. It’s not unusual for this area to go quiet, especially in late summer. The wind does swing offshore a few times, but with no swell to work with, it’s a wash. If you’re a kiter, you might get a look on the 5th and 6th of September with fresh offshore winds at 19 mph, but for a surfer? Leave the boards at home.
Rusty.
