Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Nartelle over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. I’ve chewed through the numbers for our little corner, and I’m calling it like it is – we’re in for a real lean spell. Two weeks ahead, and there ain’t a single wave worth wetting a wetsuit for. You’ll be doing more sitting on the beach than surfing.
We start this Sunday, July 12th. There’s a tiny 2ft swell from the ENE, but the period is a pathetic 4 seconds – pure wind chop with no grunt, and the combined energy is only 30 (weak). Wind is cross or onshore all day, making it a messy, weak mess. Not even a beginner should bother.
Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th are flat or close to it – swell down to 0.7ft or nothing, with tiny periods. Wind shifts around but never gives us a clean, rideable wave. By Wednesday 15th, there’s a whisper of a 1ft south swell with a 5-second period, but the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, so it’s a total dud.
Thursday 16th has a glassy morning, which sounds nice, but the swell is only 0.7ft with a 4-second period and a combined energy of 1. A glassy surface on flat water is just a mirror.
From Friday 17th all the way through to Saturday 25th July, it’s a long, flat run. Day after day of zeros. The wind does turn offshore a couple times – Sunday 20th morning is glassy, and Saturday 25th morning has a strong offshore breeze blowing at 25 mph – but there is no swell. That strong offshore on the 25th would be a dream with waves, but we’ve got nothing.
We finally get a bump on Sunday 26th July – a 1ft swell from the ENE with a 3-second period and 2 combined energy. That’s not surf; that’s a ripple. Then Monday 27th, it’s back to flat.
So, bottom line: two weeks of nothing. Water temp is running at 80°, which is 9° warmer than normal – very unusual for this time of year. You’ll be swimming in warm bathwater with no waves to ride. No standouts, no secret spots, just a whole lot of flat and nothing else.
Rusty.
