The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next few weeks.
Honestly, mate, it’s a quiet stretch. We’re talking about La Nartelle, a sheltered beginner spot that’s inconsistent at the best of times, and this forecast is mostly flat. The water temp is sitting about average for the time of year, so don’t stress about a wetsuit change.
We start with Wednesday the 15th of July. There’s a tiny bit of swell – 1 ft from the south, with a short period of 6 seconds. The wind’s a cross-onshore from the ENE at 10 km/h, so it’s messy. Combined energy is weak (12), and the surf is poor. Not worth paddling out.
Thursday the 16th, the swell drops. Morning goes glassy with a light 0.7 ft south swell, but the energy is almost nothing (2). It’s tiny. Afternoon gets choppy again.
From Friday the 17th through to Monday the 20th, it’s basically flat. A few days of zero energy (0). The wind goes clean and cross-off on the Saturday, but there’s nothing to ride. That’s a real gap of about 4 days with no surf.
Monday the 20th afternoon shows a tiny bump – 3 ft from the east, period 4 seconds, combined energy 25. Still weak, and the wind is a gentle cross-onshore. Poor surf.
Tuesday the 21st is flat again. The pattern repeats: a few 0.7 ft, 1.0 ft days with no real energy. The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, keeping things choppy.
Thursday the 23rd afternoon has 2 ft from the east, period 4 seconds, energy 14. Still not enough to get excited about.
The best we see in the whole run is on the morning of Thursday the 30th of July. That’s over two weeks away. There’s 3 ft from the ENE, period 5 seconds, combined energy 35. It’s still weak energy, and the wind is a gentle cross-onshore. For a sheltered spot like La Nartelle, that’s the most it’s got, but it’s still only marginal. Don’t get your hopes up.
Honestly, for a beginner spot that’s inconsistent, this is a normal blank run. It’s just not the time for a paddle. Keep an eye on the forecast, because it tends not to stay this flat forever.
Rusty.
