Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jardim Atlantico over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here, with the long-range look at Jardim Atlantico. To be honest, it’s a pretty quiet stretch ahead. We’ve got a solid 16-day window, but there’s no real magic on the horizon. The first week is mostly a write-off, and the second week only offers a few fleeting moments that are just barely surfable.
Let’s start with the first recommendation, and it’s a bit of a late bloomer. The first real chance to get wet is on Friday morning, 17th July. The swell is a tiny 2ft from the SE with a long, clean 13-second period, which sounds nice on paper, but the energy is only moderate (221). The wind is a light cross-shore, so it’s not blown out, but the conditions are still described as marginal. It’s a real beggars-can’t-be-choosers situation.
The next possibility shows up on Sunday morning, 19th July. This one is a bit more interesting. The swell is 3ft from the E, still a short period of 7 seconds, but the wind is glassy. Absolutely flat calm. The energy is weak (115), so the waves will be small and weak, but if you’re desperate for a clean, tiny wave on a longboard, this is your best bet for a while. The water is a warm 79°, which is about average for this time of year.
After that, we’re looking at a long gap. The next glimmer is way out on Wednesday morning, 22nd July. The swell is 4ft from the E, period 8 seconds, with a clean cross-off wind from the SSW. The energy is moderate (185). It’s still only “surfable but very ordinary,” so don’t expect any gems.
The best of the best, and the only true standout in this whole 16-day window, is Thursday morning, 23rd July. We’ve got a 4ft swell from the E, 8-second period, with completely glassy conditions and zero wind. The energy is moderate (164). The waves will be small and clean, but with the water flat as a tack, it’ll be the best looking session of the entire forecast. The crowd is listed as “sometimes,” so you might get a few others out there, but with surf this small, it’ll be a friendly vibe.
Looking further out, Friday morning, 24th July and Saturday morning, 25th July both offer glassy conditions with similar 3ft to 4ft swell from the E, but the energy is fading (150 and 107). They’re clean, but the swell is weak. Sunday morning, 26th July is the last call, with a 4ft swell from the E, 7-second period, glassy wind, and moderate energy (138). Again, small and clean, but nothing to write home about.
Overall, the earliest decent surf is on the 17th, but it’s marginal. The real pick is Thursday morning, 23rd July. For beginners, the swell is under 5ft, so it’s totally fine. The long period (13 seconds) on the 17th might make the waves a bit too straight for a beach break, but Jardim Atlantico can handle it. Just don’t expect any power. The long gaps between sets will make paddling out easy, but you’ll be waiting.
That’s the story from here. The second week is pretty thin, so don’t get your hopes up too high. It’s a quiet run, but sometimes that glassy, small stuff is all you need.
Rusty.
