Table - best surf conditions forecast for Honeymoon Island over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Honeymoon Island.
Honestly, I gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window is a bit of a flat spell. The first solid recommendation doesn't show up until Thursday morning, July 9th, and even then, it's a struggle. We’ve got a long stretch ahead with very little to get excited about. The whole period looks like it’s gonna be a write-off for any decent waves.
Let’s start with Thursday, July 9th. The morning is clear and the wind is light from the WNW at 3 mph, but it’s a cross-on breeze. The swell is a pathetic 0.3 ft from the NW with a period of just 4 seconds. The combined energy is a measly 2 – that’s barely a ripple. It’s just poor surf conditions. The afternoon picks up a little, but the wind goes onshore and the swell is still only 0.7 ft.
Friday, July 10th, offers a bit of a cleaner look in the morning with a light SE cross-offshore wind at 9 mph. The swell is still tiny at 0.7 ft from the S, period of 4 seconds, and energy of 2. It’s clean, but there’s nothing to ride. The afternoon turns onshore and choppy.
Saturday, July 11th, has a risk of thunderstorms and a SE cross-offshore wind in the morning. The swell is still 0.7 ft, and the energy is 2. It’s clean but flat. The afternoon gets a moderate WSW breeze, cross-on and choppy.
Sunday, July 12th, is more of the same: small, weak, and messy. Monday, July 13th, has no swell at all – zero energy. We get a slight bump on Tuesday, July 14th, with a 1 ft swell from the NW, but the wind is onshore or cross-on, keeping it choppy and poor.
The best we see is Wednesday morning, July 15th. There’s a 2 ft swell from the WNW with a 5-second period. The wind is light NE at 6 mph, giving us a clean cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy is 17 – still weak, but it’s the cleanest window we get. For a sandbar that rarely breaks, this is about as good as it’s gonna get. The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
The rest of the week continues with tiny, weak swells and onshore winds. By Sunday, July 19th, we see a slightly bigger 2 ft swell from the NW, but it’s met with a cross-on wind, so it’s choppy and messy.
Overall, the standouts are practically non-existent. If you’re desperate, the Wednesday morning, July 15th session is the only one that offers a clean, glassy-looking surface. But with a 2 ft swell and a 5-second period, it’s only going to be knee-high dribblers. The break is inconsistent at the best of times, so this flat run is kind of normal for Honeymoon Island. I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything better.
