Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hobson County Park over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s goin’ on at Hobson County Park for the next couple weeks.
Honestly, it’s a slow start. This reef needs a good WNW swell to fire, but we’re stuck with tiny, weak SSW and SW pulses. Water’s sittin’ around 64°, just a touch warmer than normal for July.
Your first chance to even think about gettin’ wet is Monday the 13th. The morning goes glassy—wind is dead calm from the south at 3 mph. Swell is a sad 2 ft from the SSW, period 13 seconds. Energy is weak, only 107. It’s clean but tiny. If you just need to get wet, that’s your shot.
After that, it’s a long, grim run. Tuesday the 14th through the 24th is mostly blown out. Winds from WSW to SW, onshore or cross-onshore at 6-9 mph. Swell hangs between 1 ft and 3 ft, periods all over—some short 6-second junk, some longer 15-18 second pulses, but the wind ruins it. Every session is marked poor. Wave energy stays weak to moderate, never breakin’ 300 (the highest is 269 on the 25th afternoon).
The one day that comes close to bein’ surfable is Wednesday morning the 15th, with a 3 ft W swell at 6 seconds and a cross-onshore breeze. But that’s short-period slop, not clean. For kite surfers, with those steady onshore winds, it might be fun—for paddlers, it’s a pass.
Lookin’ way ahead to Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th, the swell period jumps to 18-21 seconds, and energy picks up a bit. But the swell is still tiny (1-2 ft) and the wind is onshore from the WSW. Too far out to call a winner, but it’s somethin’ to watch. For now, this reef is takin’ a nap.
Hang tight—forecasts change, and it won’t stay this flat forever.
Rusty.
