Table - best surf conditions forecast for Harlyn over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, switching to imperial. Looking at Harlyn, it’s the same story. A real quiet spell.
From Wednesday, July 8th, right through to the end of the month, the surf is flat. The swell is tiny, mostly 1ft to 3ft, but the wind is never right. It’s cross-on or onshore every day, with moderate to fresh breezes kicking up chop. The combined energy numbers are weak, barely hitting the triple digits in the early part of the window before dropping to nothing. The water is at 62°, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s not much help.
Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th offer a little bump in swell direction from the WNW, but it’s still under 3ft with short, weak periods around 9 to 10 seconds. The wind stays light but cross-on, so it’s just messy.
The only real pulse is a long way off. On Wednesday, July 23rd, the data shows a chunky 7ft to 8ft pulse from the WSW and W. The combined energy jumps to 550 and then a massive 1093, meaning there’s serious power. The wind is a strong cross-off breeze (up to 28 mph), which should keep the faces clean. But the period is only 8 to 9 seconds, so it’s going to be a lumpy, short-period groundswell. At that size, over 8ft, it’s expert-only. And at a beach break, that long-period groundswell will likely be too straight and closing out. Still, for a spot that’s been dead quiet for weeks, that’s the only honest pulse of energy. It’s a promising but less certain call that far out.
The rest of the month is a write-off. Ten straight days from mid-July where the swell barely registers, with combined energy dropping into the teens and twenties. The wind is all over the place, but nothing good. This is just one of those stretches where the forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
