Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks. Honestly, it's a bit of a flat spell for the most part, so patience is the name of the game.
The first recommendation we get isn't until Thursday, July 9th, and even then, it's a real "if you're desperate" kind of session. The swell is tiny, only 2ft out of the west, but at least the wind goes light cross-off from the ESE, which should leave the surface looking clean. Don't expect much push though. The energy is weak (96). It's not great, but it's the first thing that's even close to surfable.
There's then a long stretch of pretty ordinary conditions right through until we hit Monday, July 13th. That afternoon things start to get interesting. The swell jumps back up to 3ft from the west, with a period of 13 seconds – that's a nice long groundswell. The energy is moderate (447). Wind is light and cross from the WNW, so it'll be a little bumpy but far better than what we've been seeing.
But the true standout is Tuesday morning, July 14th. We've got a clean 4ft swell from the west, and the wind goes glassy – dead flat. That's the kind of window you wait for. The period drops to 11 seconds, so it's still got some decent shape. The moderate energy level (375) backs that up. For Harlyn, which is a sheltered beginner spot that's often inconsistent, this is about as good as it gets. The water is sitting at 62°, which feels a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
After that promising Tuesday morning, it fades again. Wednesday morning the 15th offers clean cross-off wind but the swell drops back to 3ft. Thursday and Friday the 17th stay small and only barely worth a mention. Nothing else in the second week really stands out with any confidence.
So, in short: don't hold your breath for the first week. The best bet is getting out at Harlyn on Tuesday, July 14th for that clean, glassy, 4ft west swell. That's your window.
Rusty.
