Table - best surf conditions forecast for Harlyn over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, switching it up for the imperial crew. Let's look at what we've got for the Harlyn area. I'll be real with you – this 16-day run is a complete washout. We're staring at a flat spell that starts on the 11th of July and doesn't offer a single decent wave. It's a proper long gap of no surf recommendations all the way through.
Saturday the 11th kicks off with a tiny 2ft swell from the west at Harlyn, but the wind is a nasty cross-onshore out of the ENE at 9 mph, turning it into a choppy mess. The combined energy is weak at (96). It's a beginner spot, but even a newbie wouldn't get much joy out of this. It doesn't get any better. Sunday the 12th brings a northerly wind at 12 mph, cross-shore and lumpy, with even less energy (62). Small and messy.
The first week just dribbles away. There's a moment on the 15th of July where the morning goes glassy – wind from the ENE at just 3 mph and a small 1ft, 9-second swell from the west. That's as close as we get to something rideable, but the energy is still pathetic at (61) and it's labeled "poor surf conditions." A cruel tease.
Into the second week, the energy bumps up a bit with a moderate 150 from the WNW on Tuesday the 21st, but the swell is still a weak 3ft and the wind is a fresh 19 mph cross-off from the WSW. That just gives you a clean but blown-out mess. The period is short at 6 seconds, so it's all chop and no push. The best swell direction from the guidance is W near WNW, so it's on the money, but there's no size or power behind it.
The end of July is a total bust. Tiny wobbly 1ft swells, gusty cross-onshore winds over 12 mph, and combined energy dropping to (18) and (13). The whole forecast is a test of patience. For an inconsistent break like Harlyn, this kind of blank run is pretty normal for the area. Leave the board on the rack, don't bother suiting up, and go find something else to do. The outlook can always change, but from where I'm standing, there's nothing worth paddling out for.
Rusty.
