Table - best surf conditions forecast for Harlyn over the next 16 days.
Right then, Rusty here, and I’ve got to be straight with you. Looking at the next 16 days for Harlyn, it’s a tough watch. The forecast is a long, drawn-out run of poor surf with no real highlights to get excited about. We’re talking a solid 15 days of flat, weak, or wind-blown junk before anything even remotely interesting shows up on the horizon.
The first decent-looking pulse doesn’t arrive until Thursday, July 24th. That morning, we’ve got a 6 ft swell from the WNW, but the period is a short, weak 6 seconds. The combined energy is moderate at 242, but it’s a messy, onshore wind swell. The wind is light cross-onshore from the WNW, so it’ll be a bumpy, lumpy affair. Honestly, for a longboard or a foiler, it might be something to bob around on, but it’s not a paddle-out you’d write home about. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
Before that, it’s a desert. The entire first week is a write-off. Tiny swells, strong onshore winds from the north, and a lot of cross-shore chop. On July 13th, we get a brief moment of clean cross-off wind from the east, but the swell is only 3 ft and coming from the NNE, which is sheltered for Harlyn. The energy is weak (68), so it’s not worth the trip. Every other day is a mix of onshore breeze and small, weak waves.
The crowd situation at Harlyn is often busy, but with this forecast, the only crowd you’ll find is the seagulls. It’s an inconsistent, beginner-friendly spot that’s too sheltered to pick up any real energy from the north. The long-range signal on the 24th is the only flicker, but with a short period and a light onshore wind, it’s a long shot.
So, there’s no standout. No best on offer. The entire 16-day window is a dud for Harlyn. Keep your gear in the shed and wait for a change in the pattern. Forecasts can shift, so don’t lose hope, but right now, it’s a hard pass.
Rusty.
