The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's be straight with you. Looking at the whole 16-day window for Happisburgh, it's a tough one. The water is running at 64°, which is a solid 5° warmer than usual for this time of year – that's a notable anomaly, so you'll be comfortable in a spring suit, but that's about the only good news.
We've got a long stretch of nothing really worth paddling out for. From the 15th right through to the morning of the 22nd, it's all small, weak, and messy. The wind is mostly cross or cross-on, and the swell is tiny. The energy is pitiful, barely registering. There's a slight bump on the 18th and 19th with a bit more size (5ft to 5ft) and a longer period, but the wave comments are all "poor surf conditions." It's just not offering any quality.
The real standout, if you can call it that, is on the morning of Thursday, 23rd July. This is the only moment in the whole forecast where the score nudges up. It's far from perfect, but it's the best of a bad lot. We'll see a 5ft swell from the north with a 7-second period. The wind will be a light SSW breeze, which is cross-offshore and clean. The break is inconsistent, so don't expect a ton of waves, but it's the only clean window we've got. For a beginner, the size is manageable, but the inconsistency means you'll be waiting around.
After that, it's back to the doldrums. The 25th and 26th are flat or tiny, with a glassy morning on the 25th that looks nicer for a paddle than a surf. The rest of the run into the 30th is just more of the same: small, choppy, and cross-on. Honestly, for this stretch, if you're desperate for a session, the 23rd morning is your only real shout. The rest of the time, the setup looks more interesting for a kite than a surfboard.
Rusty.
