The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a proper look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks.
Truth be told, it’s a pretty grim stretch coming up. Right through to the 4th of September, the vast majority of the time the waves are tiny, the winds are messy, or both. We’ve got a long, flat gap with nothing worth paddling out for. The only real glimmer is right at the very end, but we’ll get to that.
The water temp at Boscombe Pier is sitting at a very unusual 71°, which is a massive 9° warmer than normal for the time of year – that’s remarkably warm, so you might not need the thickest wetsuit.
Looking into early September, things start to look a *little* more interesting. On the morning of Thursday the 4th of September, we’ve got some actual swell showing up. The wind is light offshore from the north, which will make things clean. Swell is around 5ft from the WSW with a period of 6 seconds, so it’s a short-period windswell. *Combined energy is moderate (176)*. This is the standout of the whole forecast window. It’s still pretty ordinary conditions overall, but it’s the only time you’ll find anything surfable. The afternoon cleans up even more with a light cross-offshore breeze, though the swell drops back to 3ft.
The main thing to say is: don’t hold your breath for most of this run. It’s a real barren spell. For the first week of September, the only real shout is that morning of the 4th.
Stay tuned, things can always change. This is Rusty, signing off.
