The Lowdown
Alright mate, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a bit of a quiet stretch at Boscombe Pier. The forecast shows a pretty long gap with nothing really worth getting excited about. The energy levels are mostly low, wind is all over the place, and the swell just isn't delivering. For the first week, we're looking at small, weak waves, and the wind is often cross or onshore, chopping everything up. The water temp is a whopping 71° right now, which is 9° warmer than it should be for this time of year – that's a proper anomaly, feels like the tropics are visiting.
The first real window that gets a nod is Saturday the 29th of August, in the morning. We'll see a 8 ft swell from the southwest, with a 9-second period. The wave energy is strong, hitting 1077. The wind is gentle and cross-shore, so it's not a total write-off, but it's still a marginal call. The wave height is getting up there, so this is more for the experienced crew. Before that, it's a whole lot of nothing.
After that, things get pretty ordinary again. There's a day on Tuesday the 1st of September with a small 4 ft swell from the southeast, and the wind is light and cross-off, which is clean, but the energy is weak and the conditions are just "surfable but very ordinary". It's a one-star kind of day. The rest of the first half of September looks like more of the same – weak swells, mostly clean winds but not enough wave to make it worthwhile.
So, to be straight with you, the standout is that Saturday the 29th of August morning session. It's the biggest, most energetic swell in the whole run, but it's still a marginal one. For the rest of it, you're probably better off keeping the board in the car and finding something else to do.
Rusty.
