Table - best surf conditions forecast for Freshwater Bay over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty, and I’ve been staring at the charts for Freshwater Bay. Looks like we’re in for a pretty grim stretch, to be honest. The whole 16-day window is a wasteland for decent waves – there’s a big gap of nothing worthwhile from the start right through to the very end. The first few days are a total write-off with fresh cross-shore winds and lumpy, poor surf. You’ll see a few tiny pulses of swell in the middle of the week, but they’re blown out or just too small to bother with. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing to write home about. Honestly, this is a classic run of flat, wind-affected junk that’s more about grabbing a windsurf or a kite than a paddle board.
The only faint glimmer in the whole forecast is on Monday morning, the 27th of July. The swell finally picks up a bit, with 4ft of SW groundswell and a moderate combined energy of 150. The wind is light and offshore from the W at 9 mph, so it’ll be clean. But the conditions are still marked as “very ordinary,” and the waves are just surfable, not good. The swell direction is SW, but Freshwater Bay wants it from the SW for its optimum, so that’s a match. Still, for a reef and point break, this is a far cry from what it can do. It’s a real shame – the whole 16 days is a dud, with nothing else on offer. Keep the board waxed for another week, and maybe the patterns will shift.
Rusty.
