The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's get into it.
First up, it's a bit of a tough stretch for Scratby. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty grim, and there's really nothing to get excited about. The water is running much warmer than usual for this time of year, sitting at 66°F.
The first few days, from Monday the 13th through to the end of the week, are a write-off. We've got a weak, short-period swell bumping around, with a combined energy never getting much above 122 (moderate at best), but the wind is a constant problem. It's mostly a cross-onshore, sometimes a full cross-shore, and it's strong – 19 mph – making for choppy, lumpy, and just plain poor conditions. The swell height barely touches 4 ft, but with that wind, it's a mess.
The weekend of the 18th and 19th brings a tiny bit more energy, with the combined swell energy climbing to 191 (moderate) on Sunday morning, but the swell is still short-period and the wind is mostly cross-shore. The Saturday afternoon window on the 18th does show a clean, cross-offshore wind, but the swell is only 4 ft with a 7-second period, so it's not going to be offering much shape or power. It's a small improvement, but not a standout.
Things go really quiet from the 20th onwards. The swell drops right off, with heights under 3 ft and combined energy falling into the double digits. There are some glassy, clean periods on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd, but with almost no swell to ride, it's flat calm. The rest of the month through to the 28th is a mix of tiny, weak swell and poor wind directions. It's a long, dry spell.
Honestly, for this 16-day period, this is a classic case of a blank run. The area just doesn't look like it's going to cooperate. There's nothing to recommend, no standout days. Forecasts can change, but right now, it's a good time to do some repairs.
Rusty.
