Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Scratby over the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. We’ve got a real long gap with nothin’ worthwhile on the table.
The whole 16-day window is lookin’ pretty flat and sad. The water is sitting at 63°, which is *much warmer than normal* for this time of year – feels like bathwater for July. But that’s about the only exciting thing. The combined wave energy barely tickles double digits for most of it, and anything that does show up has a period of only 4 to 7 seconds, which is just wind slop.
The first bit of hope comes way down the line, on Wednesday the 16th of July, where we see a tiny pulse: 2ft from the ENE with a period of just 5 seconds. It’s got a weak combined energy of 25 (25) and a light cross-onshore breeze from the ESE. It’s still only rated as poor surf, but it might be the best of a bad bunch for a quick mess-around on a longboard. But honestly, that’s faint praise.
Before that? Nothing. Zip. We’ve got a solid week and a half of flatness or close-out junk. There’s a moment on the morning of Saturday the 5th of July where we get a clean-looking 2ft from the NNW with a moderate offshore wind from the WNW, but the period’s only 6 seconds and the energy is a measly 22 (22). You might get a few waist-high close-outs if you’re desperate.
Look, if you’re after paddle surfing, this ain’t the spot for the next 16 days. That stretch from now until mid-July is a write-off. The onshore winds and tiny, short-period waves make it look more interesting for a kite session than a surf session, especially with that consistent cross-onshore breeze. Don’t hold your breath. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a blank run.
Rusty.
