Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hangers over the next 16 days.
Alright, let me tell you how things are shaping up at Hangers. The truth is, for the next couple of weeks, we’re looking at a pretty flat spell. The data shows we’ll be stuck with a very weak, short-period swell from the ESE for the entire run. The combined energy is really low – we’re talking values of just 21 (weak energy) at best, and often dropping into the single digits. There’s no standout, no real juice to get excited about.
Right out of the gate, Saturday the 11th, you’ll find tiny 1ft to 2ft waves. The wind won't be doing us any favors either, coming from the SSE creating a cross-onshore bump. It’s gonna be a messy, choppy affair. Honestly, not worth paddling out for. A tough start.
The theme continues through Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th. The swell stays in that 1ft to 2ft range, and while we get some cleaner conditions with a light cross-offshore breeze on the mornings, the wave energy is just pathetic. You’re looking at combined energy in the teens (16-19 on the scale). There’s nothing here to ride.
We hit a major positive note on Wednesday morning the 15th and again on Friday morning the 17th. You’ll get glassy conditions with a light NW wind, but unfortunately, it’s on top of that same tiny 0.6ft to 0.9ft swell. It’s clean, sure, but with combined energy at 23 and 16, it’s essentially flat. You could probably sit on your board and have a coffee, but not much else.
The following week is a carbon copy. From Saturday the 18th through to the end of the period on Sunday the 26th of July, it’s the same story: tiny 0.6ft to 1ft ESE swell with periods between 7 and 9 seconds. The combined energy stays pathetically low, between 6 and 20. There are a few glassy or clean moments on the morning of Tuesday the 22nd and some afternoons later in the week, but with no swell to work with, it's just a tease.
In short, mate, this is a prolonged, flat run. There isn't a single session in the 16-day window that I’d call a recommendation. The water temp is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year at 86°, but that’s about the only highlight. The only thing that might be of interest here is if the wind picks up on the afternoons, but for a surfboard? Don’t bother. Maybe the kite surfers will get a look in on the choppier days, but for paddle surfing, the board stays in the car.
Stay patient,
Rusty
