The Lowdown
Alright folks, let's have it straight. The ocean is going to be doing a whole lot of nothing for a while. From the 18th through the 25th, we're looking at a dead stretch. Tiny, gutless waves and not a shred of energy. You'll be sitting out there wondering why you bothered. The combined energy readings are mostly in the double digits, which tells you all you need to know. It's a poor run of form, plain and simple. There's a lot of nothing on offer, and the few days that have a pulse are still pretty weak. If you're a beginner, don't even bother getting the board wet.
Then, we get a little flicker of life starting on the 26th of August. The period jumps up to a long 16 seconds, and the energy finally pushes past 150. It’s still small, but it's got some proper grunt behind it. The morning looks clean with a light offshore wind. It's not going to be epic, but it's something.
The one day that's actually worth setting an alarm for is Thursday the 27th. The morning session is the call. The swell is still tiny, but the period is a solid 13 seconds and the energy is up there. The wind is light and offshore, keeping it glassy. It won't be big, but it should be the cleanest and most organized surf we see in this whole 16-day window.
After that, it's back to the doldrums. From the 28th onwards, the energy drops off a cliff again. We're back to small and weak. A few clean windows here and there, but nothing that will get your heart racing. The final days just fade out into nothing.
So, there you have it. A long flat spell, one promising window, and one standout morning on the 27th. For the more experienced surfer, that's your moment. For everyone else, this is a good time to work on your tan.
Rusty, signing off.
