Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty again. Let's break down the Hangers forecast, but in feet and miles.
Right from the start, it’s a quiet stretch. There’s a real lull for a full week. From Saturday, July 4th, through the following Friday, the surf is tiny. We're talking waves in the 1ft range from the ESE, with periods of 8 to 9 seconds. The wave energy is weak – numbers mostly in the teens to sixties. Plus, the wind is cross-on a lot, making it choppy and messy. Honestly, it's a total flat spell for that first week.
There's a slight glimmer on the morning of Thursday, July 9th. The swell is still small, about 2ft from the ESE, with a 9-second period, but the wind goes cross-off from the SW at 6 mph, cleaning up the surface. The combined energy climbs to 59. It's the first time we see a note for "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions," and it is "clean." That's your best look in this first block.
Still, nothing here jumps out as a standout. Moving into the final days, a little more energy shows up. On Friday, July 17th, the swell bumps up to around 4ft from the E, but it's a short period of 6 seconds and cross-on winds keep it poor. The energy finally gets into triple digits (109 in the afternoon). But with that wind and short period, it looks more like a kite session than a paddle session to me. The 18th drops back to 3ft. No real highlight in this window.
Water temp on the 4th morning is a warm 85°F, with an anomaly of about 0.9°F above normal – pretty standard for the area at this time.
For a break that’s fairly consistent, this is a dry run. It happens, but it can change quick.
Keep the chin up.
Rusty.
