Alright, let’s talk about Hangers.
This is a fairly consistent beach-and-reef break, pretty exposed, and it likes swell coming out of the NE. The water temp is around 86°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. The bad news is, over this whole 16-day stretch, there’s barely a ripple worth paddling for. The swell is tiny – knee-high to waist-high at best, with the summary swell height stuck between 1ft and 2ft. The wave energy is weak, going from 12 to 77 – nothing with any grunt.
Starting Monday 6 July, we get a light offshore wind in the morning, but it’s only a 1ft easterly swell with a short 8-second period. It’s clean but really small. Tuesday morning 7 July is similar – 1ft from the east, 9-second period, with another light offshore – glassy, but tiny. The afternoons turn messy with cross-onshore winds and a chance of thunderstorms.
Wednesday 8 July stays small and crossed up. The whole first week follows that pattern: some clean mornings with light offshore or cross-off breezes, but the swell never shows up. The afternoons get choppy and not worth it.
Into the second week, from Monday 13 July through Sunday 19 July, it’s more of the same. Clean mornings with gentle offshores – Monday the 13th, Tuesday the 14th, Thursday the 16th, and Saturday the 18th all have that – but the swell is only 1ft to 1ft, short period around 8 to 9 seconds. The energy never goes above 48, so it’s weak.
Even on Tuesday 21 July, when the summary swell bumps up to 3ft from the SE with a 5-second period, the wind is cross-on at 12 mph and the combined energy is just 58. That setup looks better for kite surfing than paddling.
So, the whole 16-day window is flat. It’s a long dry spell, but for this area that’s pretty normal. Forecasts can always flip, but for now, there’s no standout day. You could maybe get out on a log in the clean, tiny morning waves if you’re desperate.
