Table - best surf conditions forecast for Flagler Avenue over the next 16 days.
Right, let’s have a look at the coming weeks for Flagler Avenue. It’s a beach and jetty setup, exposed to the swell, and it’s about as consistent as they come, but that doesn’t mean it’s got anything good for us.
Honestly, the outlook is pretty grim. This is a 16-day window with no real standout surf. The whole period is a long stretch of small, weak, and pretty ordinary conditions. The combined swell energy is weak across the board, with the highest reading just hitting 82 (moderate) on Wednesday morning the 8th, but that’s still a tiny wave. We’re looking at a long run of days where the waves are just too small to get excited about.
The first real chance for anything surfable, and I’m using that term loosely, comes on Wednesday morning, July 8th. The wind is glassy from the SW, and the swell is a tiny 2 ft from the ESE with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 82. It’s surfable, but it’s very ordinary. The water temp is about 85°, which is pretty normal for this time of year, so you won’t need a thick suit.
There’s another tiny window on Wednesday morning, July 15th, with a 2 ft swell from the NE and a 7-second period. The wind is a light cross-off from the SSE, so it’s clean. The combined energy is 81. Again, it’s just about rideable, but nothing to write home about. The same goes for the morning of Thursday, July 16th, with a 2 ft NE swell and glassy conditions, but it’s still small.
For the rest of the period, it’s a whole lot of nothing. The swell stays tiny, mostly under 2 ft, with short periods and cross-shore or onshore winds. The consistent nature of the break means it’s rarely flat, but when it’s this small and weak, it’s not worth paddling out for a proper session. Honestly, for a beach and jetty setup with these conditions, it looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
If you’re desperate, the cleanest and most glassy chances are the Wednesday and Thursday mornings mentioned, but keep your expectations low. The second week looks even more barren, with the swell dropping to 1.0 ft and 1 ft. It’s a long, quiet stretch ahead.
Rusty.
