Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, I’m looking at what we’ve got for Flagler Avenue over the next couple of weeks, and I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. There’s not a single standout day in the whole 16-day window. The swell is tiny and weak, and when it does try to show a pulse, the wind or conditions just mess it up. We’re looking at a long, flat spell.
Starting off on Thursday the 2nd of July, the afternoon has a tiny 3ft swell from the ENE but it’s onshore and messy – you’re not gonna want to paddle out. Friday the 3rd morning is the closest we get to anything decent all period. It’s glassy with a light 2ft swell from the ENE and the combined wave energy is a weak 56 – that’s barely a ripple. The water temp is sitting at a warm 84°, which is about average for this time of year, so at least you won’t need a thick suit. But the waves are just ordinary.
From there, it’s a long grind. Saturday the 4th through Monday the 6th of July is all tiny surf under 2ft, with cross-shore winds and afternoon seabreezes making it choppy. Tuesday the 7th morning is clean with offshore wind, but that swell is only 1.0ft – you’d be bobbing around on a lake. Wednesday the 8th afternoon sees a spike in combined energy up to 149 (moderate), with a 3ft swell from the ESE, but it’s a cross-shore mess, described as poor surf conditions. That pattern just keeps repeating.
The rest of the period through to Friday the 17th of July is more of the same: tiny waist-high or smaller waves, mostly poor conditions. There’s a brief moment on Friday the 10th morning with glassy conditions and a 2ft swell from the ESE, but the energy is only 59, and it’s still just "surfable but very ordinary." The afternoons are all ruined by cross-shore winds. Even with the occasional offshore in the mornings, the swell is just too small to do anything with. If you’re a kite surfer, the afternoons with moderate breeze and cross-onshore might be more interesting than paddling.
Honestly mate, if you’re dead set on getting wet, the best bet is Friday the 3rd morning for the glassy conditions, or maybe Friday the 10th morning for that same glassy, clean look. But don’t get your hopes up. This is a proper run of flat, poor-quality surf. It happens here. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to chase.
