Alright, Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks at Flagler Avenue are looking pretty flat and uninspiring. The swell energy is barely registering, mostly below 50 (weak energy) and never cracking beyond a 107 on that scale for the whole run. That's not the kind of number you want to see for a proper surf session.
We've got a long stretch of days with virtually nothing rideable. From Saturday 4th July right through to the morning of Thursday 9th July, it's all "poor surf conditions" – tiny waves, mostly 1 ft to 1 ft, with short period slop. Thursday 9th morning shows a glimmer of hope with a 2 ft swell and clean offshore winds from the SW, but even then, the wave comment calls it "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions" – a 1/10 score. That's the best we get for the first week.
Then we hit another flat spell. Friday 10th morning is glassy but only 2 ft. The real standout – if you can call it that – is Saturday 11th morning. We've got a 2 ft ESE groundswell with a period of 8 seconds, combined energy of 53 (weak), and light WSW cross-offshore wind. It's clean, and it's the only time in the whole 16-day window where the conditions are described as "surfable" more than once. But still, it's tiny. You'll be on a foamie or a longboard, fighting for scraps at Flagler Avenue itself, a beach/jetty break that's very consistent but also often crowded. The water temperature is a warm 84°F – about average for this time of year (anomaly +0.7°F).
After that, we're back to poor conditions through the rest of July. Monday 13th afternoon has a 3 ft ESE swell with light WSW cross-offshore wind and a combined energy of 81 (weak) – again "surfable but very ordinary". That's about it. The rest of the second week is all tiny 1 ft to 2 ft slop with onshore or cross-shore winds, and even the energy numbers drop back into the 20s and 30s. Honestly, if the wind kicks up, the setup here might be more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing – but with such small swell, even that's a stretch.
So, bottom line: there's no true standout session in this 16-day window. The best you'll get are a couple of marginal mornings with knee-high, clean waves. For this area, that's just the way it goes sometimes. Forecasts can change, but for now, keep the board in the car and the expectations low.
