Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break this down in feet and miles per hour.
We’ve got a long, flat spell ahead. The first week of July is mostly dead, with only tiny, weak waves showing up after a big gap. The surf is small and ordinary, and you’ll be waiting a while for anything rideable.
Flagler Avenue is the only break on the menu. It’s a beach and jetty spot that’s very consistent for small surf, but the height barely registers for days. On Thursday the 9th morning, there’s a 2 ft ESE swell with a 9-second period, combined energy at 50. Wind is light offshore from the SW, so the surface will be clean. It’s surfable but nothing exciting. Water temp is 85°, right around normal for the season.
Into the second week, Wednesday the 15th morning brings a 2 ft NE swell, but the period is a short 6 seconds, so the waves are weak and crumbly (54 combined energy). Wind is glassy from the WNW, so it’ll look clean but feel small. Then Saturday the 18th afternoon offers a 2 ft ESE swell with 8-second period (57 combined energy) and clean conditions from a light S offshore breeze. Still tiny.
Wednesday the 22nd morning is the top pick: a 2 ft ESE swell, 8-second period, combined energy up to 68, and a light offshore wind from the S keeping it clean. For this whole outlook, that’s the best you’ll see. It’s all small, beginner-friendly surf. Crowds are often around, so don’t expect solitude.
If you want more power, the afternoon cross-shore winds make the area look better for kiting than paddling. For a surfboard, keep it small and hope the forecasts improve.
Rusty.
