Alright, let's break this down for the imperial crew. Flagler Avenue is looking pretty grim for the next couple of weeks, so I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.
The first week is basically a bust. From Monday the 6th through Wednesday the 8th, we're looking at ankle-biters measuring 1 foot or less. Tuesday morning the 7th is dead glassy, which would be beautiful, but with a 1-foot wave, you're just standing on a glassy lake. The wave energy is super weak, sitting in the single digits for combined energy most of the time.
The only times the energy kicks up a bit are Wednesday afternoon the 8th and Thursday afternoon the 9th, but even then the swell is only 3 to 3 feet at best. It's coming from the ESE with a short 9-second period, and the wind is cross-shore and moderate, making it choppy and unappealing.
You get a couple of mornings that are "surfable but ordinary" – Thursday the 9th and Wednesday the 15th. We're talking maybe 2 to 2 feet. Even when the wind is offshore and clean, like on Wednesday afternoon the 15th of July with a moderate offshore breeze, the waves are just too small to get excited about. Maybe you'll find a little 2-foot runner.
Water temp is around 85°, which is normal for the season, so at least the swimming's nice.
The whole setup is a beach/jetty spot that's exposed but with no swell arriving, and the crowds are "often" there, but with nothing to ride it's a moot point. This is just a classic mid-summer flat spell. It'll turn around eventually.
Rusty.
