Alright, let’s switch it over. This is Rusty, and here we go.
Right now, the surf is just about to pick up at Eerste Steen. We’re starting off small on Friday the 3rd with a little swell, but conditions are marginal and the wind’s not helping. You’re not missing much. Saturday morning on the 4th is cleaner, with a small 3 ft SW swell and a cross-off wind smoothing things out. The energy is weak, only 387, so it’s a mellow paddle but nothing special.
The real spark comes Sunday afternoon the 5th. Wind goes glassy, and we get a 4 ft WSW swell with clean faces. It’s small but glassy as can be – perfect for a log or a fun grovel.
Monday morning the 6th is the big moment. Solid 7 ft WSW groundswell, long 12-second period, glassy conditions with light offshore wind. Energy hits 1524 – moderate to strong – and this is serious, quality surf for experienced surfers. Tuesday morning the 7th is another gem: 6 ft SW groundswell, glassy again, and clean.
Wednesday the 8th brings bigger numbers – 10 ft on Wednesday morning – but the wind gets messy, turning cross and choppy. The period drops a bit. Big, but not pretty. Same for Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th: swells in the 7 ft to 8 ft range, long period, and decent mornings. Afternoons get cross-chop. Mornings are your window.
By Saturday the 11th, we still have a solid 6 ft SSW groundswell on Saturday morning with clean conditions. Strong energy, over 1300. Good waves.
Then things drop off. Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th are back to small, weak surf under 3 ft. Tuesday the 14th is a total washout with onshore winds and rain.
But from Wednesday the 15th through Friday the 17th, we get a massive pulse. Swells hit 12 ft to 13 ft, with energy over 2800 and up to 4666. That’s very strong to extreme. Wind and tide are favorable, but these waves are way too big for this break – only for absolute experts. If you’re not in that league, stay on the beach.
Saturday the 18th drops back to 8 ft SSW swell with light cross conditions, but still a bit messy.
Best standout: Monday morning the 6th. Clean 7 ft WSW groundswell, glassy cross-off wind, and a strong 12-second period. This is the real deal for experienced surfers. Tuesday morning the 7th is a close second.
Water temperature at Eerste Steen is sitting at 56°F, which is 4° colder than usual, so it’s notably chilly. Suit up properly.
Rusty.
