Table - best surf conditions forecast for Eerste Steen over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, let’s get into it. We’ve got a solid run of surf ahead at Eerste Steen, so let’s break it down day by day for the next couple of weeks.
The overall pattern is looking pretty good. We’ve got a consistent stream of SW swell pushing in, and the winds are playing ball for the most part, especially in the mornings. The first week is the real highlight, with a few standout sessions that will have you grinning. The second week shows some promise too, but it gets a bit more gnarly and a touch less reliable.
Sunday, July 12th – We kick off right away with some decent morning surf. The swell is a clean 5 ft out of the south, with a nice 11-second period (moderate energy of 682). The wind is a light easterly cross-off, so the waves will be holding shape. It’s a solid start. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
Monday, July 13th – This is a beauty. The swell drops a touch to 3 ft from the SSW (energy of 271) but the wind goes glassy from the NE. Expect clean, fun little waves. It’s a great morning for a longboard or a fish.
Wednesday, July 15th – Now we’re talking. The morning brings a 4 ft SW groundswell with a very long 17-second period. That’s some serious energy (809) and the wind is completely glassy. These waves will have real punch and shape, but expect longer lulls between sets. This is a standout session for the crew that knows how to sit in the right spot.
Thursday, July 16th – The swell is pumping up to 8 ft from the SW (13 seconds, energy of 2605). The morning is glassy and clean. This is serious, powerful stuff. Only for the experienced surfers – it’s going to be a proper paddle and a wild ride.
Friday, July 17th – The swell stays solid at 8 ft, but the wind swings to a cross-shore from the SSE around 9 mph. It’s still surfable, but it’s not as clean as the previous days. Still some big waves to be had if you’re keen.
Saturday, July 18th – A great morning session. The swell is 6 ft from the SW (14 seconds, energy of 1815) with a clean cross-off breeze from the ESE. The waves will have plenty of power and be nicely groomed. The afternoon goes glassy, perfect for a late session.
Sunday, July 19th – The swell drops right back to 3 ft (energy of 401). The morning is clean with a light cross-off, making for a fun, relaxed surf on the smaller waves.
From Monday, July 20th through Tuesday, July 21st, the wind turns onshore or cross-shore and it gets messy. The surf quality drops off. It’s a bit of a write-off for paddle surfing.
Wednesday, July 22nd – We’re back in business. A clean morning with 6 ft SW swell (13 seconds, energy of 1294) and a light ESE cross-off. Good, clean, powerful waves.
Thursday, July 23rd – This is the standout of the second week. The swell is a solid 10 ft from the SW with a 15-second period (very long period, energy of 3375). The wind is a clean offshore in the morning. This is big, powerful, and clean. Strictly for the experts again – the paddle out will be a mission, but the reward is huge.
Friday, July 24th – The swell is still big at 8 ft to 10 ft (energy of 3004), but the wind is howling from the north at 19 mph. It’s a cross-off, so it’s not completely blown out, but it’s going to be a lumpy, challenging day. The afternoon gets even messier.
Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th – Strong winds, rain, and a stormy mess. The swell is still big, but the conditions are poor. Not a good time for a paddle.
Monday, July 27th – The forecast wraps up nicely. A clean morning with 6 ft SW swell (13 seconds, energy of 1194) and a light cross-off breeze. A solid, clean end to the outlook.
So, if you’re picking your days, Wednesday morning July 15th and Thursday morning July 23rd are your true standouts. The first one has that beautiful glassy, long-period groundswell, and the second is a muscle wave for the big-wave chargers. Get out there.
Rusty.
