Table - best surf conditions forecast for Eerste Steen over the next 16 days.

G’day, Rusty here, and we’ve got a solid run of swell lining up for Eerste Steen. The pattern kicks off with a strong pulse from the SSW, then settles into a cleaner, more manageable groove before a monster swell hits late in the second week. Keep your eyes on the early morning sessions for the best conditions.

The first real action starts Saturday, July 11, with a punchy 7ft SSW swell running at a long 12 seconds. Combined wave energy is pumping at 1565 (moderate to strong), and with a light ESE cross-off breeze, it’s clean. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers—the size is over 5ft, so it’s pushing past beginner territory. Sunday morning, July 12, drops a touch to 5ft from the SSW, still with a sweet 11-second period and an E cross-off. Energy is 698 (moderate), and the waves are clean. The standout here is Monday morning, July 13: it’s glassy, flat calm with an ENE breeze at just 3 mph, and the swell is a clean 3ft SSW at 10 seconds. Energy is a softer 271 (weak), but for a smaller, user-friendly wave, this is the pick of the first few days.

Wednesday morning, July 15, sees a new SSW pulse at 6ft, 11 seconds, and glassy conditions with a SE breeze. Energy jumps to 1086 (strong). This is a nice clean morning. But by Wednesday afternoon, it’s kicking up to 10ft SW at a very long 15 seconds, with energy at 3572 (strong). That’s big—only for experts. The long period makes it a bit walled at beach breaks, better suited to a point or reef. Thursday, July 16, stays big at 10ft SW, period 13 seconds, but a moderate SSE breeze at 9 mph is putting a bit of cross-chop on it. That trend continues through Friday, July 17, with 8ft SW and a cross-off ESE at 12 mph—still clean, but windy.

Saturday, July 18, is a good reset: 5ft SSW at 12 seconds, light E cross-off, energy 1194 (strong), and clean conditions. Sunday morning, July 19, offers a clean 4ft W swell with a 12-second period and a NNE cross-off, energy 692 (moderate). Then things go quiet. Monday, July 20, through Tuesday, July 21, morning, the swell dips to under 3ft, but Tuesday morning has a glassy 3ft SW with a very long 19-second period, energy 731 (moderate). This is a real groundswell—long gaps between sets, but the shape will be good for point breaks and reefs.

The big news is Friday, July 24. Friday morning is glassy, but the swell is a massive 13ft SW at a 19-second period, with energy at 11023 (very strong). That’s way too big for this break—expert only, and even then, it’s a beast. The same goes for Friday afternoon at 12ft SW. Saturday, July 25, morning eases to 10ft SW at 16 seconds, energy 4864 (strong), and a clean E cross-off. This is still big, but for experienced crew, it’s a serious session. Sunday, July 26, morning holds at 13ft SW, 15 seconds, energy 6831 (very strong), but with a NNW cross breeze—still big, still expert only.

Best overall pick: Monday morning, July 13 – glassy, clean, small but fun.
Biggest standout for experienced surfers: Saturday, July 25 morning – solid 10ft SW, clean, and plenty of juice.
