Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming down the line for the next couple of weeks. There's some proper muscle in the water, but we gotta pick our moments.
The ocean is waking up after a sluggish start. The first few days are a write-off, but from Monday the 6th of July, things start to get real interesting. The standout window is definitely the middle of the first week, with a few more solid pulses following up.
Eerste Steen is the only game in town, and she's about to get worked. The water is sitting at a chilly 56° right now, which is a solid 4° colder than normal for this time of year. That’s enough to make you feel it, so a decent steamer is a must.
The first real window kicks off Monday morning, the 6th of July. We've got a 7 ft WSW groundswell rolling in with a long 11-second period. The energy is pumping at 1226 (moderate wave energy), and with the wind going glassy from the ENE, this is going to be clean. That’s a proper session for the experienced crew.
Tuesday morning the 7th is another standout. The swell drops slightly to 6 ft, but it's a clean SW groundswell with a 12-second period, and the wind is dead calm, glassy. The energy bumps up to 1368, and it’s looking excellent for experienced surfers. This is a top pick for the week.
Wednesday morning the 8th keeps the run going. Another glassy morning with a 7 ft SW swell, 13-second period, and the energy is now at 2205, getting stronger. Another excellent session for those who know what they're doing.
Thursday the 9th through Friday the 10th sees the swell size jump to a solid 10 ft, but the wind gets messy with a cross-shore chop. The energy is massive, hitting 3083 (strong wave energy), but the conditions are marginal. This is for the die-hards only. Friday afternoon cleans up a bit with a cross-offshore wind, offering a solid 8 ft, 13-second period swell.
Saturday the 11th is another top call. A 7 ft SSW swell, 12-second period, with glassy conditions in the morning. The energy is at 1774. That’s a fantastic surf. It then fades slightly going into the second week.
From the 12th, the swell backs off significantly. There are a few small, clean mornings on the 12th, 13th, and 16th of July, but with waves under 4 ft, it’s just a fun size. The 14th and 15th are total losses with poor winds and even some rain showers and a strong 19 mph onshore blow on the 15th, making a mess.
Looking into the back half, the 18th of July looks monstrous, with an 12 ft WSW swell predicted and a massive 4857 energy reading. But the cross-shore wind and size mean it's only for experts, and even then, it might be more of a kite-surfing show than a paddle session. The 19th and 20th of July then offer a nice reset with clean 7 ft to 8 ft conditions and offshore or cross-offshore winds, rounding out the period nicely.
Bottom line: The first week is where it's at, specifically the mornings of Monday the 6th, Tuesday the 7th, and Wednesday the 8th, plus Saturday the 11th. The big stuff around the 18th is for the brave. Keep an eye on the long-range forecasts for that final weekend, as it could clean up beautifully.
Rusty.
