Table - best surf conditions forecast for Eerste Steen over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here, lookin’ at the next coupla weeks for Eerste Steen. We’ve got a mixed bag comin’ our way, but there’s some real gems to get the heart pumpin’ if you time it right.
The week starts off with a solid pulse of energy. Saturday morning, the 11th, is lookin’ sweet – we’ve got a 7ft SSW swell punchin’ in with a 12-second period, and that ESE cross-off breeze is gonna keep it clean. The water’s sittin’ at 57°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you might want a hoody. The combined energy is cranked up at 1356, which is solid. That’s the standout for the start – a proper session for experienced surfers. Sunday the 12th is still fun with a 5ft S swell and clean conditions in the morning, but the energy drops to 682.
Monday the 13th is a glassy little gem – 3ft SSW swell, a 10-second period, and absolutely no wind in the morning. It’s small, but that glassy surface will make it feel like butter. Tuesday the 14th is a write-off, so don’t bother.
Now, keep your eyes on Wednesday the 15th. The morning is glassy again with a 4ft SW swell, but the afternoon is where it gets interesting – a 10ft SW swell with a 15-second period, and the combined energy is a massive 3724. That’s serious groundswell. The wind is light cross-shore, so it’s clean, but at 10ft, this is only for the experienced crew. The long period means it’ll be better for a point or reef, but Eerste Steen can handle it.
Thursday the 16th is still big, with a 10ft SW swell in the morning and 8ft in the afternoon, but the wind is a bit cross-shore, so it’s a bit messy. Friday the 17th is a standout for the big-wave hunters – an 12ft SSW swell in the morning with a 16 mph cross-off wind, but it’s super clean. The energy is 3318. It’s a beast, though, so only experts. The afternoon drops to 10ft and still clean.
Saturday the 18th is a good day for the intermediate crew – 7ft SW swell with a 14-second period, clean cross-off wind, and the energy is 1596. That’s a solid session.
The second week gets a bit smaller and more uncertain. Sunday the 19th is glassy and small, 3ft to 4ft, but clean. Monday the 20th is glassy in the morning with 4ft, but the afternoon gets onshore and choppy. Tuesday the 21st has a 5ft SW swell with a 16-second period, but the wind is 12 mph cross-shore, so it’s a bit bumpy. Wednesday the 22nd is a hidden gem – glassy calm with a 6ft SW swell and a 14-second period, energy at 1485. That’s for the experienced crew, and it’ll be clean as a whistle.
Towards the end, Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th are huge again – 10ft to 13ft SW swell with massive energy (5888 and 8891), but the forecast says it’s too big for this break. The wind is good, but only the most hardcore chargers should even think about it.
Overall, the best on offer is Saturday morning the 11th for a solid, clean session, and Wednesday the 15th for the big-groundswell crew. The 22nd is a sleeper for a clean, glassy hit. The first week is the pick, with the second week bein’ a bit more unpredictable.
Rusty.
