Table - best surf conditions forecast for Eerste Steen over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it. We’ve got a decent window coming up for Eerste Steen, but you’ll need to pick your moments. The start of the period is a bit of a write-off, but things clean up nicely from Friday morning.
The first real chance to get wet is Friday, the 10th of July. We’ve got a solid 8ft SSW swell rolling in with a 13-second period. That’s a proper groundswell, and with the wind swinging cross-offshore from the SE, it’s going to be clean. The energy is pumping hard at 2423, which is strong stuff. This is for experienced surfers only though—that size is well over the 5ft mark and pushing into expert territory. It’s a standout session for the early birds.
Saturday the 11th keeps the run going. The swell drops a touch to 7ft, still from the SSW, with a 12-second period. The wind is light and cross-off from the ESE, so it’ll be clean again. Wave energy is still solid at 1336. This is another excellent morning for the intermediate crew who can handle it. The size is just on the edge of being too big for beginners, so if you’re not confident, maybe sit this one out.
Sunday morning, the 12th, sees the swell ease to 5ft with an 11-second period. The wind is light and cross-off from the east. It’s clean, and the energy is moderate at 675. This is a good, more manageable size for a wider range of surfers. A nice way to finish the weekend.
After that, the surf drops right off. Monday and Tuesday are tiny, with waves under 3ft. It’s glassy Tuesday afternoon, which is pretty, but you’ll be struggling for a ride. We then hit a dry spell until the 16th of July.
Thursday the 16th brings a new pulse of energy, but the wind is howling from the SSE at 12-22 mph, making it a messy, cross-shore chop. The swell is 8ft to 10ft, but the conditions are rough. Then Friday the 17th shows some real promise again: 7ft SW swell, 12-second period, and light cross-off winds from the ESE. The energy is strong at 1298, and it’s clean. That’s another one for the experienced crew.
Looking further out, the second week gets wild. Monday the 20th is a write-off with strong onshore winds. By Wednesday the 22nd, we’re looking at a massive 12ft SW swell with a 15-second period, but the wind is a cross-shore mess. The energy is a staggering 5231, but it’s too big and messy for a paddle. Then Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th are absolutely monstrous—16ft to 18ft swells with periods over 17 seconds. The energy readings are off the charts (14972 and 15429). This is expert-only, big-wave territory, and honestly, it’s looking more like a kiteboarding or tow-in scenario than a paddle session. The wind is favorable, but the size is just too much for a standard surf at Eerste Steen.
The best bet in the whole 16-day window is Friday morning, the 10th of July. It’s the biggest, cleanest, most powerful swell of the early run, and it’s right in the sweet spot direction from the SW. If you’re an experienced surfer, that’s your session.
Rusty.
