The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it. This forecast covers the next couple of weeks, and right now, there’s nothing happening. The first real surf window kicks off on Monday, July 13th, but the energy is weak and the conditions aren't worth paddling out for.
Things start to look up on Wednesday morning, July 15th. Eerste Steen will see a clean little SW swell pushing about 2 feet, with a long 17-second period. The wind is glassy—dead calm—and the combined energy is moderate at 226, but there's 1307 showing for that session. This is a standout early call. It’s not huge, but it’s clean and the water’s running a bit colder than normal at 57°F, about 3°F off the average for this time of year.
Thursday morning, July 16th, is another beauty. The SW swell bumps up to about 8 feet with 13-second period, and with light offshore easterly winds making it glassy, this one is for experienced surfers. The combined energy is sitting strong at 2241. Crowds are possible here, so get in early if you can. Afternoon gets a bit cross-onshore, so mornings are definitely the go.
Friday morning, July 17th, stays fun with a 7 foot SW swell and clean offshore winds from the SE, giving clean walls. Energy’s moderate at 930. Saturday the 18th keeps the good run going—morning has a 5 foot S swell with offshore easterlies, and Saturday afternoon goes glassy with a 4 foot S swell, both with clean to glassy surfaces.
Sunday morning, July 19th, is another highlight: a 7 foot WSW swell, dead calm winds, and glassy conditions. Combined energy is solid at 1266. This is the best on offer for the first week. Afternoon gets a bit bumpy, so lock in the morning.
Tuesday, July 21st, the swell jumps up to about 10 feet with a very long 16-second period, clean and cross-offshore winds. Energy is huge at 3917. This is for experts only—too big for beginners. The second half of July 22nd sees the swell hitting 13 to 15 feet with strong energy in the 6700s, but it’s too big for this break and the wind is howling onshore. That’s kite-surf territory.
Saturday, July 25th, afternoon has a 7 foot SW swell with an extremely long 19-second period—very long period groundswell. Combined energy is heavy at 5497, but the wind is light cross-onshore, so it might be a bit bumpy. Best for a reef or point break setup, as that long period can make beach breaks burgery.
Sunday morning, July 26th, is a standout for the second week: 10 foot WSW swell, 15-second period, clean cross-offshore winds, and 4082 energy. That’s a solid call for experienced surfers. It’s a week and a half away, so keep an eye on it—it’s promising but not locked in yet.
Towards the end of the run, Monday morning, July 27th, brings 7 foot WSW swell with glassy conditions and 1520 energy—another excellent session for those who can handle it.
There’s a long gap of no real recommendations from the first few days right now, but once it starts, Eerste Steen offers plenty of solid sessions, especially the morning glass-offs mid-month. The best of the bunch is Wednesday morning, July 15th for the cleaner, smaller vibes, and Sunday the 26th for the bigger, more powerful stuff.
