Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, let's have a look at what's coming down the line for us at Eerste Steen.
We've got a solid run of surf kicking off this Tuesday, July 7th, and it's looking like a classic winter south-west groundswell is about to light up this spot. The water is sitting at 57°, which is a bit colder than you'd normally expect for early July, so you'll want that extra layer.
The window opens Tuesday morning with clean, glassy conditions. The swell is a solid 6 ft from the SW, rolling in with a 12-second period and a strong energy reading of 1368. This is proper intermediate territory and the wind is dead calm – a total glass-off. This is the standout of the first week, no question. Tuesday afternoon holds up nicely at 7 ft, but the wind swings onshore, so the morning session is the one. Keep Wednesday morning, July 8th, as a backup. The swell bumps up to 7 ft from the SW with a long 13-second period, the energy is cranked up to 2307, and it's dead calm again. This is another absolute gem for experienced surfers.
We get a bit of a breather after Thursday when the wind starts to chop things up. By Friday, July 10th, the swell is a hefty 10 ft from the SSW. That's expert territory – a big, powerful groundswell with a 13-second period and energy at 2643. It's clean in the morning with a cross-offshore breeze, but it's going to be a handful. The following Saturday morning, July 11th, is a mellow return to form with a clean 6 ft from the SSW.
After that, the surf settles down. We go through a flat period from Sunday, July 12th, through to Wednesday, July 15th, where the swell drops below 3 ft and conditions are poor. But don't lose hope. The forecast shows a promising return around Thursday, July 16th, with a 8 ft SW swell picking up again, but the wind isn't ideal.
However, there's a real standout looming at the end of the forecast window. Look out for Sunday, July 19th. We've got a solid SW groundswell building. In the morning it's 6 ft with a long 14-second period and energy at 2332, under glassy conditions. By the afternoon, the swell is expected to hold at a powerful 10 ft, still from the WSW, and still glassy. The energy is massive at 3752. Keep an eye on this one – it's a long way out, but if it holds, that Sunday afternoon session could be absolutely epic for the crew who know what they're doing.
Stay safe out there, and keep your stick in the water.
Rusty.
