Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dreamtime over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Dreamtime over the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got a bit of a mixed bag to start, but there’s some real magic lurking further out. The week kicks off with some clean, smaller waves, but the ocean is about to throw a tantrum mid-period before settling into a stunner of a finish.
Saturday 11 July starts the run with a solid offering. Morning is the call here – glassy conditions with a light southerly breeze, and a clean 5ft swell rolling in from the southeast. The swell period is a short 10 seconds, so it’s a bit weak in the gut (combined energy 587), but it’s very surfable and the conditions are perfect. This is a good, clean intro.
Sunday 12 July drops off a touch in size to 4ft, but we get a proper offshore wind from the WNW in the morning, making for clean, lined-up waves. It’s a smaller day, but the quality is there for a fun session.
Monday 13 July is tiny. The morning offers glassy 2ft waves, but it’s marginal. By afternoon, it’s pretty ordinary.
Tuesday 14 July through to Sunday 19 July is a write-off. We’ve got onshore winds, mostly from the southeast, and the swell gets messy and lumpy. The ocean goes wild from the 15th through the 18th, with swell heights hitting 10ft to 12ft, but it’s all cross-onshore and chaotic. This is not paddle-surf territory; with significant swell and strong cross-shore winds, this setup looks far more interesting for kite surfing. The energy numbers hit four digits (up to 1719) but the quality is zero. A long, poor stretch.
Monday 20 July is the turning point. Morning is glassy again with a light southerly wind and a clean 7ft swell from the ESE at 9 seconds. The combined energy is a solid 666 and conditions are described as very good. This is the first standout of the forecast.
Tuesday 21 July morning is the moment. It’s a big call this far out, but this is the best on offer. We’ve got a 8ft swell from the ESE with a long 12-second period, pushing a massive combined energy of 1399, but here’s the catch – it’s predicted to be too big for Dreamtime at this size. The wind is light offshore from the west, promising clean conditions, but that 8ft groundswell is pushing expert-level territory. For the experienced crew, this is a proper session if you can handle the power. For everyone else, it’s a spectator day or a paddle-out if you’re feeling brave.
Wednesday 22 July drops back to 5ft, but the wind is messy. Thursday morning 23 July is a beauty, though. Clean, light offshore wind from the NNW, a tidy 4ft swell from the ESE, and a combined energy of 501. Glassy and clean – a real gem.
Friday 24 July morning offers a small, glassy 4ft wave, good for a longboard or a fun summer-style surf.
Saturday 25 July and Sunday 26 July see the run fade out with small, choppy leftovers. The last real session is over by Friday morning.
Best on offer: If you’re an expert, don’t miss the morning of Tuesday 21 July – that’s the big, clean, powerful swell. For most of us, the standout is Monday 20 July morning with glassy 7ft waves and a much safer energy level.
Rusty.
