The Lowdown
Alright, let me run through what’s happening for us shoreside.
It’s gonna be a sleepy stretch. Dreamtime’s showing some bumps, but nothing that’ll get your heart pounding. Water temps are about normal for this time of year, right around 69°, nothing crazy.
Come Saturday the 22nd morning, we’ve got a tiny 3ft swell out of the ENE, a weak, short 7-second period. The wind’s blowing light offshore from the WNW, so the surface will be glassy, but the energy is low (85), just not much push. Saturday afternoon stays cloudy with a light wind from the west; same small, weak waves.
Sunday the 23rd goes downhill – an onshore breeze messes it right up. Monday the 24th shows a jump in energy to 272, which is moderate, but it’s a short-period swell and the wind is all wrong, making it a washout. The rest of the week is pretty ordinary: 3ft to 4ft ENE swell, mostly short period, and cross-onshore winds keeping it choppy and ugly.
The one day worth circling on your calendar is Saturday the 29th morning. That morning goes glassy with a light NNE breeze. The swell holds at 3ft from the east with a better 9-second period, and the energy is solid at 228. It’ll be clean, small, and fun—perfect for a log or a funboard. This spot can be a bit inconsistent, so don’t expect non-stop waves. And yep, you might have some company; crowds are possible.
After that bright spot, it’s back to small and choppy for the rest of the run. The start of September looks even smaller, dropping to 2ft or less with steady onshore winds.
Bottom line – hold out for that Saturday the 29th morning. The other two weeks are mostly quiet, with a few near-flat days likely in the second week. Just one of those slow spells.
Rusty.
