Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, let’s talk Daytona Beach. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a lean stretch ahead. We’ve got a long gap with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The first real chance you’ll see is on Wednesday morning, July 8th.
For the first several days, from Saturday, July 4th, right through to Tuesday, July 7th, it’s basically flat. Tiny dribbles of swell, around 1.0ft to 1ft from the ESE with weak energy (44 down to 13), and the wind is messy. Even Tuesday morning the 7th has glassy conditions but there’s just nothing to ride. A real quiet spell.
Now, Wednesday morning, July 8th, finally shows a pulse. Daytona Beach is a sandbar setup, exposed to the east. We get a bit of a lift – 2ft from the east, period at 9 seconds. The combined energy climbs to a very modest 50. Light west wind giving a clean cross-off breeze. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild. It’s surfable, but it’s very ordinary. This is the best we’ve got in this whole outlook, and honestly, that tells you everything. It’s small, clean, and you might get a few knee-high bumps. Crowds are sometimes a factor here, so on a morning like this, you might see a few curious souls out.
Thursday afternoon, July 9th, sees a jump to 3ft from the SE with 9 seconds and 193 of combined energy – moderate now. Wind is cross-off from the SSE. But the file says poor surf conditions. The size is there but it’s not holding together well for the sandbar.
After that, it’s back to small stuff. Friday morning July 10th, 2ft from the ESE, 8 seconds, clean with a light cross-off, but weak energy (58). Saturday morning July 11th, 2ft from the ESE, 8 seconds, offshore from the SW, clean but tiny. And then it just drifts into the second week with nothing changing – 1.0ft to 1ft dribble, weak energy, mostly clean but barely rideable.
Saturday morning, July 18th, we see a little spike – 2ft from the NE at a short 6 seconds, glassy conditions, but the combined energy is still weak at 45. It’s surfable but very ordinary again.
So, the standouts? Wednesday morning July 8th is your best bet for a clean, small session. Thursday afternoon July 9th has the most size, but it’s not clean. Otherwise, it’s a waiting game. A few small clean windows but nothing that’ll get the heart racing.
Rusty.
