Table - best surf conditions forecast for Daytona Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s cookin’ at Daytona Beach.
To be honest, looking at the whole 16-day window, this is a pretty flat spell. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing special, with only a couple of afternoons offering something that might get you in the water. For the first week, the waves are tiny, and the quality is just "ordinary" at best. The best bet looks like Monday afternoon, July 13th, with a little 2ft swell from the SE, and the wind going glassy from the NNW. That’s about as clean as it gets, but the energy is weak – only 86 (combined energy). Still, a glassy afternoon on a 2ft wave is a good chance to get the longboard out and enjoy the water. The water is warm, sittin’ at 83°F with the anomaly nearly normal, so it’s just about average for this time of year.
After that, we drop back into tiny, weak surf. Tuesday afternoon, July 14th, sees a similar 2ft from the SE but with a cross-offshore wind, making it surfable but still ordinary. The energy is 94, so still nothing to write home about. Then we hit a real dead zone. From the 15th right through to the 19th, it’s all 0.7ft to 1.0ft waves with poor conditions. Sunday afternoon, July 19th, offers a slight bump to 2ft from the SE, and the wind is clean, but with a period of only 7 seconds, it’s a weak, slow wave with energy at 46. It’s surfable, but you’ll be working for every ride.
The second week doesn’t bring any hope. From the 20th to the 27th, it’s a flat-out run of "poor surf conditions" every day. The swell never gets above 3ft and that 3ft on the 20th is a messy 4-second wind swell with onshore wind. The rest is all 1.0ft to 2ft with cross-shore or cross-onshore winds, so it’s choppy and gutless. This stretch is a classic Florida summer flat spell, so don’t expect much. The setup is mostly beach and sandbar, so with the wind and tiny waves, if you’ve got a kite, you might have more fun than a paddle surfer.
No standouts here. The best on offer is Monday afternoon, July 13th, for the glassy, clean conditions, but it’s still a very small wave. The rest of the window is a no-go.
Rusty.
