Table - best surf conditions forecast for Daytona Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s chew the fat on what’s coming our way.
Honestly, it’s a slow start. We kick off on Wednesday, July 8th, but the first week is a snoozer. The swell is puny – 1 foot to 2 feet from the ESE with a short period of 8 to 9 seconds. The energy is weak (21-45). Some mornings will have a glassy or light offshore that makes the surface look like a mirror, but with waves that small, you’ll be sitting out there more than you’ll be surfing. Thursday the 9th morning could be your best early chance, with a clean 2 feet and a cross-off wind, but it’s still nothing to shout about.
The second week is where the pulse finally hits. After a few dry days, we get a real shift. Our best bet lands on Friday, July 17th and Sunday, July 19th. On Friday morning the 17th, the swell pushes up to 3 feet from the SE, and the combined energy hits 153, which is moderate and a welcome kick. It’ll be clean with a light offshore. Then Sunday morning the 19th is the real standout. The swell builds to 4 feet from the SE (energy at 163) with a clean offshore SW wind. That’s the most size we’ll see in this whole run, and for Daytona Beach, that’s a proper little punch for a summer morning. The period is short at 6 seconds, so it won't be a grinder, but it’ll be fun and much more interesting.
For the whole 16 days, the water temp is about normal for this time of year. Nothing unusual. Crowds can pop up at Daytona Beach sometimes, so if you're aiming for that Sunday the 19th, I'd get out early before the word spreads.
It’s not a massive swell window, but that Friday the 17th and Sunday the 19th mornings are the ones to get on. Long range is always a bit of a gamble, but that’s the best I’ve got for you.
Rusty.
