Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jetty Park over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be honest about this stretch. We’ve got a 16-day window with nothing but tiny, weak waves on the menu. For a spot like Jetty Park, which is a beach/jetty setup that’s already inconsistent, this is a long, flat spell. There’s a big gap of surfable days—basically the whole 16 days—because there’s nothing here that’s really worth getting wet for. The combined swell energy is a weak 63 (maximum) to a low 13, and the swell is tiny, mostly 1.0 ft to 2 ft. The period is a short 8-9 seconds, so it’s all windswell with no real punch.
Thursday morning, July 9th is the first look, but it’s not good. We’ve got a tiny 2 ft ESE swell with a 9-second period and a light SSW breeze giving us cross-off wind. The energy is 63. It’s clean, but it’s just too small. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild.
Thursday afternoon the wind swings SE and jumps to 16 mph, making it cross-on and choppy. The swell drops to 3 ft, but the energy is 98. It’s a mess.
Friday morning, July 10th is smaller again at 1 ft, with a cross-on breeze. The energy is a paltry 28. It’s a total non-event.
The pattern just repeats. Saturday, July 11th has a risk of thunderstorms and 1 ft swell with energy in the 20s. Sunday, July 12th morning has a brief window of offshore wind from the WSW and clean conditions on 1 ft swell, but the energy is only 22. You could maybe paddle around on a log, but that’s it.
Monday, July 15th morning has a glassy moment with 1.0 ft and 0 mph wind from the S, but the energy is only 16. Glassy and tiny isn’t surf.
Wednesday, July 16th morning is also glassy, 1.0 ft, energy 16. Same story. Thursday, July 23rd morning has a clean offshore wind from the W on 1 ft swell, with energy at 27. That’s probably the best window for a tiny, clean knee-high wave, but it’s still nothing to get excited about.
Friday, July 24th morning has a risk of thunderstorms, offshore wind, and 1 ft from the E with energy at 40. It’s the last shot, but again, it’s a micro-swell.
The best on offer? Honestly, there isn’t a standout. If you’re desperate to get in the water, the Sunday, July 12th morning with the offshore wind and clean 1 ft, or the Thursday, July 23rd morning with the offshore wind, are your least worst options. But the swell is too small, the period is too short, and the energy is too weak for any real ride. If you’re a kite surfer, the bigger wind days might be more interesting for you, but for a paddle surfer, this is a solid 16-day blank. The break is inconsistent, so this kind of run is normal for the area.
Rusty.
