Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, and I've gotta be straight with you — it's gonna be a tough stretch. We're lookin' at a real quiet period for Jetty Park, with hardly any worthwhile waves on the cards for the full 16-day run.
The forecast kicks off on Saturday, July 4th, and honestly, it's a bit of a flat spell. We're talkin' tiny ripples, not surf. The swell hangs around a pathetic 1 ft to 1 ft from the ESE, with periods sitting at a weak 8 to 9 seconds. The combined wave energy is barely registering, with readings like 16 and 27 (weak energy), just confirming there's no real power behind any of it.
Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th offer nothin' better. Mornings might look clean with a light offshore or cross-off breeze, but that's just polish on a turd — the waves are still nonexistent. By the afternoons, the onshore wind messes up the surface, but there's hardly a wave to mess up anyway.
There's a tiny flicker on Thursday the 9th, when that combined energy hits 109 (moderate wave energy) with a 3 ft ESE swell. But it's still got that "poor surf conditions" tag all over it, and the afternoon wind is onshore. We're not paddle-in material.
Friday the 10th is more of the same: clean mornings, but again, nothing to ride. The pattern just keeps repeating — we get a few days where the wind lays down in the morning, the energy stays pathetically low, and the swell direction never lines up right for this spot. The optimum direction here is SSE, and we're stuck with a stubborn ESE.
The second week is just a copy-paste of the first. From July 11th right through to July 19th, it's the same story: 1 ft to 2 ft ESE swell, weak periods, and no scores above zero. The only standout day might be Sunday the 19th, where we get a clean, moderate offshore wind from the WSW in the morning, but with a combined energy of only 17 and a 1 ft swell, it's still a flat day with a bit of a breeze on it.
Honestly, there are no good options here. The break is inconsistent, and this run is proving it. For the entire 16-day window, there's not a single session worth paddling out for. If you're desperate, you could look at it for a kite session on a few afternoons when the wind picks up from the SE, but for a surfboard? Forget it. Forecasts can change, but right now, this is a dry spell.
Stay patient,
Rusty
