Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jetty Park over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s face it, this stretch is about as flat as a week-old beer. We’ve got a 16-day window, but honestly, there’s nothing to get excited about. The whole period is a write-off for proper waves. We’re looking at a solid gap of poor surf from the start right through to the end of the month.
The only spot on the cards is Jetty Park (Jetty-Park). It’s a beach and jetty setup that’s inconsistent at the best of times, and this run is not one of them. The swell is tiny, hanging around 1ft to 2ft from the ESE with a short, weak period around 7-8 seconds. The combined energy is pathetic, barely cracking 50 (29-50) for most of the run. It’s just not enough to push any kind of rideable wave.
The winds are a mixed bag, but it doesn’t even matter with this little juice. You’ll see some glassy mornings – like Tuesday the 14th, Wednesday the 15th, and Friday the 17th of July – where the water is dead flat. That’s about the only appeal: a calm paddle. Otherwise, it’s mostly cross-shore or cross-onshore breezes, turning the surface into a mess of chop and ripples.
Don’t kid yourself, this is a kite surfer’s setup more than a surfer’s. The water temperature is sitting pretty average for the time of year, nothing unusual to report there.
There’s no standout session here. Not one. The best you can hope for is a morning with glassy conditions on the 14th, 15th, or 17th of July, but even then, the swell is so weak (1ft, 14-22 energy) it’s barely a ripple. There’s nothing to recommend. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s not unusual.
Stay tuned, forecasts can change, but right now, leave the board at home.
Rusty.
