Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here, let's talk about what's on offer for the local stretch around Cromer.
To be brutally honest, the next two and a bit weeks are looking pretty grim on the whole. We're staring down the barrel of a very long flat spell. From now until about the 18th of July, there's just nothing worth paddling out for. Wave heights are tiny, energy is non-existent, and the data is full of "poor surf conditions." It’s a real blank run, which is a shame, but it can happen.
The one small glimmer of hope comes right at the tail end of the forecast window. On Saturday afternoon, the 18th of July, we finally see a pulse of energy arrive. The swell builds to 5ft from the NNW, with the combined swell energy hitting 189 (moderate). The period is short though, only 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit of a lumpy, unrefined windswell. What’s interesting is the wind looks to come from the ESE, giving us a cross-offshore breeze which should clean things up nicely, making for a manageable, fun-sized wave for the more experienced beginners or intermediates.
Before that, the only other day that *might* give you a little knee-to-waist high bump is the morning of Saturday the 18th, with 4ft from the NNW, but the energy is weak (74) and the cross-shore wind will make it messy.
So, the standout, and really the only session on the cards, is that Saturday afternoon. It won't be a world-beater, but after such a long dry spell, a clean 5ft wave (even if it's a bit short period) will be a welcome sight at Cromer. Don't bother checking the charts again until then.
Stay patient.
