Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cromer over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's cut through the fluff. For the next week or so, it's a right off. We're looking at a solid stretch of small, choppy, wind-battered surf that's not worth paddling out for. The first real sign of life is a long way off, around the 17th of July.
For the first week, from the 10th to the 16th, it's a bust. The swell is tiny, mostly under 3ft, with short, weak periods. The wind is constantly onshore, turning the ocean into a mess. There's a little bump on the 12th with swell hitting 4ft, but the onshore wind destroys it. A gap of about seven days with nothing to recommend.
We get a pulse on the 17th of July. The swell gets up to 5ft from the NE, with some decent energy. But the wind is onshore, so it's a messy, poor surf. This continues through the 18th and 19th, with swell reaching nearly 7ft on the 18th, but it's big, onshore, and not clean. Too big for beginners and a battle for everyone else.
The only real standout, the one window of hope, is the 20th of July. The swell hits a solid 8ft from the N, with a 9-second period and a lot of power. The wind is still onshore, making it a raw, powerful beast. At Cromer, this is expert territory only. The swell is over 8ft and the onshore wind will make it a real challenge. Not a beginner's wave.
The 21st of July sees the swell drop to 6ft, still with that long period, but the onshore wind remains. The 22nd of July offers a chance of clean-up, with light morning wind, but the swell is down to 3ft. The 23rd of July morning finally gives clean, offshore wind, but with only 2ft of swell, it's flat.
So, the only true standout in this 16-day window is the 20th of July at Cromer. It's big, powerful, and for experts only. The rest of the period is a lot of waiting.
