Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright, mate, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for the next couple of weeks at Cromer.

Honestly, I gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window is a total dud for surf. There’s not a single session worth paddling out for. The waves are tiny, the wind is messy, and even though the place is fairly consistent and usually picks up a bit of north swell, the forecast just keeps serving up “poor surf conditions” day after day. You’ll see a few small swells here and there, but they’re all weak – combined energy values barely reaching 58 (moderate) on the best day, and most are well under 100, so weak overall. Add in cross-shore chop, onshore wind, and periods around 4–7 seconds, and you’ve got nothing that’ll stand up proper.

Starting from Sunday the 5th of July, the afternoon shows a tiny 1 ft swell from the NNW with a short 5-second period, cross wind at 6 mph. Water temp is sitting at 64°F, which is a full 6° warmer than normal – that’s very unusual for the time of year. But the surf? Forget it. That pattern just repeats – Monday the 6th through Wednesday the 8th sees a bit more height (2 ft–2 ft) but the wind picks up to 16–19 mph from the west, churning up a lumpy cross-chop. No good.

Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th get a little cleaner with a cross-off breeze from the ESE, but the swell drops to 2 ft and even 0.7 ft, with energy tanking to 5. Not worth the walk down the steps. From Saturday the 11th onward it’s more of the same – onshore or cross-on winds, swell sizes between 2 ft and 3 ft, but always with a messy wind. By the second week, around the 14th to 20th of July, it’s mostly onshore, and the last couple of days (20th) show zero swell. That’s a full blank run right to the end.

So what’s the call? There is no standout. No hidden gem. This is one of those rare quiet spells where even a reliable spot like Cromer (beach/pier) just goes flat and messy. For a beginner-friendly break like this, you’re better off staying home and checking the charts again in a few days – forecasts can change, and it won’t stay this poor forever. But right now? Save your petrol.

Rusty.
