The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Cromer over the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, it’s a pretty grim outlook. We’ve got a solid 16-day window here, but there isn't a single moment that’s worth paddling out for. The whole period is a write-off for any decent wave riding. The first sniff of any real swell arrives around the 19th of July with chest-high sets pushing 5.2 ft, but the wind is howling straight onshore from the north and northwest, trashing any chance of a clean face. It’s just messy, blown-out whitewater. You'd be fighting a losing battle.
There are a few windows where the swell energy picks up into the moderate range—like on Sunday the 19th and again on Thursday the 23rd July, with combined energy values of 395 and 421 respectively—but that onshore wind just ruins it every time. The water temperature is a notable 3.0° warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s no consolation when the surf is unsurfable.
The rest of the forecast is a tale of small, weak swell and poor conditions. A couple of afternoons, like Friday the 24th July and Monday the 27th July, see clean conditions with cross-offshore breezes, but the swell is tiny—1.6 ft and 2.6 ft respectively—with short, weak periods of 4 to 7 seconds. There's just no power or shape. From the 25th of July right through to the end of the month and into early August, it’s all small, weak, and choppy. This lack of consistent swell is pretty normal for the area, so a blank run like this isn't a huge shock.
Honestly, save your energy. There is nothing on offer here.
