The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’ve got to be straight with you – this is a tough one to write. The whole 16-day period is a real flat spell for Cromer. There’s nothing on offer that’s worth waxing up for. It’s a long blank run from the start right through to the end of the month. The swell is small, the wind is messy, and every single session is tagged as poor surf conditions. If you’re after a surf, you’re out of luck.
The water temperature is about average for the time of year, nothing special there. The only real sign of life is a little bump in combined energy around the 18th and 19th of July, with readings around 152–223 – still weak to moderate energy – but it’s all onshore wind and short-period slop. The swell hits 4 ft on the 18th and 19th, but it’s a 7–8 second windswell from the north, blown out by fresh onshore winds. That’s not surfable, it’s just messy.
Later in the window, around the 27th of July, we get a glassy moment – a rare 3 mph south wind and clean conditions – but the swell is a pathetic 2 ft. You’d be better off with a paddleboard. Even the last few days show a clean cross-offshore wind but no swell to speak of. This stretch of nothing is normal for the area, so don’t hold your breath. The only thing that might change is the forecast, but as it stands, there’s nowhere to go.
Rusty.
